Kirk Maltby has moved closer to re-signing with the Red Wings.
Detroit Red Wings GM Ken Holland is expected to sign the veteran left winger to a 1 year, two way deal.
This could happen as early as tomorrow.
Maltby, who has been with the Wings since 1996 and has been apart of Detroit’s Cup teams in ’97, ’98, ’02 and ’08 will most likely start the season with Detroit’s AHL affiliate the Grand Rapids Griffins.
Maltby was dinged up most of last season and missed the final 21 games and all 12 playoff games because of a shoulder injury and subsequent surgery.
He was a third-round pick, 62nd overall, in 1992 by the Oilers.
