In an interview done with TSN recently, free agent Shane Doan discussed his current status and what his mentality is as the ownership situation in Phoenix continues to weigh on him and his decision-making for his next contract.“I’m doing everything I can to stay there and that’s kind of my goal. At the same time, I have to do some due diligence now in the fact that the longer it takes the the harder it seems to be to get a deal done in Phoenix.”
“I am going to try and give Phoenix every chance that I can. For me it’s going to be about my family and the right situation for us and the right situation for me as a player to have a chance to win and enjoy the game. That’s a big part of it, being in the right spot and enjoying it. There’s obviously a few teams that fit that.”

Pretty telling words by Doan here. This ownership situation is forcing him to look elsewhere otherwise Doan, just by his tone, would be completely happy finishing his...

Report: Sharks Among Favorites to Land Shane Doan
While every NHL player's future is up in the air with the ongoing labor issues, Shane Doan's is especially unpredictable. The longtime Coyotes captain is a free agent, and while he's expressed a desire to remain with Phoenix, the franchise faces ownership issues that could force the forward to look elsewhere. If he does, the San Jose Sharks are among the favorites to...
New York Rangers Rumors: Rangers a Favorite to Land Shane Doan
According to Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News, the New York Rangers are a favorite to land Phoenix Coyotes’ Shane Doan. “The Rangers’ strengths include their formidable roster but also Doan’s connections with their coaching staff: Assistant GM/assistant coach Jim Schoenfeld coached Doan for two seasons in Phoenix (1997-98 and 1998-99), with John [...]

Report: Doan narrows list to three
Half the NHL would welcome Shane Doan if the unrestricted free agent left the Phoenix Coyotes due to their unsettled future in Arizona, but Doan has apparently narrowed his list of potential destinations to just three teams.Doan will choose between the New York Rangers, Pittsburgh Penguins and Vancouver Canucks, writes New York Post scribe Larry Brooks, who goes as far as saying...
Doan Doing Everything He Can Do To Stay In Phoenix
from NHL.com, Shane Doan reiterated Saturday that his preference is to re-sign with the Phoenix Coyotes.
“Right now I’m doing everything I can to stay there and that’s kind of my goal,” Doan said in an interview with TSN. “At the same time, I’m having to do some due diligence, now in the fact that the longer it takes the more likely and the harder it seems to be to get...
Are the Wings still on Doan’s list?
Sunday Larry Brooks of the New York Post reported that free agent forward Shane Doan cut his list of destinations to three teams, Pittsburgh, the New York Rangers and Vancouver. This is obviously concerning for some Wings fans who were still holding out hope that Holland would continue to make a pitch for the veteran forward.
However according to Mike Sunnucks of the Phoenix Business...
Rangers In on Doan?
After landing the player they have wanted for a long time in Rick Nash, the New York Rangers might be at it again, this time with UFA Shane Doan.
In last weekend’s New York Post, Larry Brooks wrote the following:
Depth has been compromised. Dependency on young Chris Kreider and Carl Hagelin to accelerate the learning curve is not insignificant. If the season starts on or close...

GARTH: Doan To Smashville?
San Jose and Detroit have folded their cards. They are folding on the Shane Doan all-in poker game.
Buffalo, NY Rangers, Philly, Vancouver, Los Angeles and Phoenix are interested in landing Doan.
All intel points to Doan staying on the left coast. For family stability reasons, the thought process behind it makes sense. If and when the Jamison group's bid to buy the Coyotes...
Would Shane Doan be a fit in New York?
Did you think the summer would be drama free after Rick Nash was finally traded? Wrong you were. Shane Doan continues to deliberate over his future, contemplating finishing his career out with Phoenix or taking on a new venture with a new club.

Jan Levine: Is Doan Down to Three (or Four) Teams?
Per Larry Brooks' column yesterday - which mainly focused on how the Rick Nash acquisition changes the tenor of the Rangers - Shane Doan may have narrowed his focus down to three teams. (With all due respect to Garth and his daily or minute by minute update - I present the below blog)
Per Brooks, those teams are New York, Pittsburgh and Vancouver. Brooks excludes Phoenix...
Still Slow In The Hockey News Department
So slow that I’ve read stories today about five teams still have an interest in Bobby Ryan. Funny, I would think 29 teams would have an interest in him.
Another story, Shane Doan narrows decision down to three teams. Really, I believe Doan when he says he will do everything to remain in Phoenix, but when his agent talks, and notice, he hasn’t in over a week, anything goes...
Kreider, Doan, or both
The Rangers top six (health allowing) looks a lot more intimidating these days, thanks to Rick Nash’s arrival. It’s amazing what one addition can do to change people’s perceptions. That said, the Rangers continue to be linked with Shane Doan and on the right deal he’d be another welcome upgrade but Doan is a mistake waiting to happen.
The arrival of a declining but still...
Eklund: Is Holmstrom Decision Imminent?
I am returning from a much-needed, weeklong family vacation and there's a lot of business to attend to today, including chasing several trade rumors and the latest on Shane Doan. I'll have much more later today. For now, here's a quick hit for your late Saturday morning.
Back on July 11, Red Wings general manager Ken Holland indicated that he expected a final decision...
Addressing The Sabres’ Recruiting Problem
What do Brad Richards, Rick Nash, Zach Parise, Gary Suter, and Shane Doan have in common? Besides being NHL superstars, the Buffalo Sabres weren’t mentioned as serious contenders to land any of them.
Joe Pinzone of Buffalo Wins thinks he knows why, and so do I. In episode 4 of our 5-part audio series, we each give one main reason why the goal of Terry Pegula to make Buffalo...
