San Jose Sharks goaltender Antti Niemi may miss the team's season opener after having a cyst removed.
The Sharks and Niemi did not divulge the location of the cyst.
When asked if he would be available for opener on Oct. 8, Niemi admitted he wasn't certain.
"I don't know about that. We'll see," Niemi told the San Jose Mercury News on Thursday.
The 28-year-old Finn posted a 35-18-6 mark with six shutouts and a 2.38 goals-against average last season.
