San Jose Sharks goaltender Antero Niittymaki cleared waivers Thursday.
Niittymaki was placed on waivers Wednesday and has only appeared with the team's AHL affiliate in Worcester this season on a pair of rehab assignments.
The 31-year-old Niitymaki underwent hip surgery in the offseason, and the Sharks are now set with Antti Niemi and Thomas Greiss in net.

Logan Couture was picked last in the NHL All Star Draft. Antero Niittymaki wasn’t picked off waivers at all. Couture will be remembered for being picked last, he got a car and donations to his favorite hockey charities and it’s possible he will get a superincredible season in 2012-13. That last one isn’t guaranteed because the sample size is too small to call it a pattern...

The San Jose Sharks acquired forward Tim Kennedy from the Florida Panthers for defenseman Sean Sullivan.
Kennedy was assigned to San Jose's AHL affiliate in Worcester. He has split this season with the Panthers and San Antonio of the AHL, notching two points in 27 games with Florida.
Sullivan had five goals and 19 assists in 32 games with Worcester this season.

Logan Couture is a good ol’ Ontario boy, but didn’t spend time in Ottawa until he was drafted by the OHL’s 67s is 2005.
Prior to that, he played ‘AAA’ junior in his birth town of London, where he was teammates with the Los Angeles Kings’ Drew Doughty.
