PER TSN.ca on Wednesday sources say goaltender Roberto Luongo will submit a short list of teams to the Canucks next week that could pave the way for a trade out of Vancouver and the Toronto Maple Leafs will be one of the teams on that list.

Now we're hearing via Dan Murphy the Canucks beat guy from Sportsnet.ca...

Via Twitter.

Quote: Toronto is indeed on Roberto Luongo's list of teams he'll submit to #canucks GM Mike Gillis and it should come as no surprise Tampa Bay is 2 On Tuesday, Luongo said he would agree to waive his no-trade clause if team officials asked him to do so.

Quote: "It's going to be what's best for the team," Luongo said on Tuesday. "Whatever scenario that is, I'm okay with it - whether that involves me being here or not is okay. We've got a lot of potential in this locker room, there's a great core of guys, and the chance to do something special." Luongo, 33, signed a 12-year, $64 million contract extension with the Canucks in 2009.

Quote: "I don't want to be one of those guys that will stand in the way of anything, I always want to put the team ahead of me and not be one of those selfish guys," said Luongo. We also found out w/ regards to the leafs from Vancouver reporter Jason Botchford...

Toronto has several things going for it. There's Dave Nonis, who traded for Luongo when he was the general manager of the Canucks. They have a significant need for a No. 1 goalie, which is required.

They can handle the cash it's going to cost, the bulk of which is $40.3 million during the next six years.

But most importantly, they have Francois Allaire, Luongo's longtime goalie guru who works with him during the offseasons. Allaire also happens to be the Maple Leafs' goalie coach.
