DENVER — The best start in NHL history is over. The Chicago Blackhawks finally left the ice without a point — but with their heads held high.
The Blackhawks were stunned 6-2 by the struggling Colorado Avalanche on Friday night. It was their first loss in regulation and ended a remarkable run in which they earned at least one point in their first 24 games, an NHL record.
Craig Custance revealed his rankings for ESPN Insider (behind a paywall) for the top 20 potential rental players for this year’s NHL Trade Deadline.

It had to happen sooner or later -- the Chicago Blackhawks' NHL record games with a point streak had to end. The Colorado Avalanche, the team tied for last place in the Western Conference, were the team to do it it. They blew out the Hawks in Denver by a score of 6-2 in a very un-Hawklike game.

Steve Montador has been activated off injured reserve, in addition, Brandon Bollig was sent back to the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League in order to open up a roster spot for Montador.
Bollig, 26, appeared in 11 games for the Blackhawks this season but did not register a point. The enforcer complied 40 PIM's and averaged 5:31 TOI per game.
