It’s the question that all, if not most, Detroit Red Wings fans never want to hear asked. “Should the Red Wings trade away Pavel Datsyuk?” Graham Hathway of Winging It In Motown was asked the question, and posted an answer. The following is an excerpt: About 2 weeks ago, a Maple Leaf fan popped over to our neck of the woods and posed an interesting question: if half or an entire season were lost due to a labor stoppage, would Red Wing fans consider the possibility of trading Pavel Datsyuk? As one might expect, the initial reaction by a lot of people was “No”, with the occasional “(bleep) no” or “stop doing drugs because it’s bad for you” thrown in to emphatically make their point. This would be very similar to asking whether Steve Yzerman or Lidstrom should be traded. We’re talking about a lifelong Red Wing who is also a bona fide NHL superstar. A guy who is universally respected throughout the league both for his on-ice talent and off-ice personality. A man who makes the Red Win...

  • Seriously????? What is management thinking. First they they add Tootoo which still baffles me. They have some of the best players in the league, albeit aging some. Datsyuk should be a lifer, as Lindstrom was. Talk about putting another nail in the coffin for the play-offs.
    Unfortunate, I live outside of Nashville so Center Ice is a must. I love watching him work that puck. No one in the NHL can do what he does. Management had better remove their collective heads from their rectum before we become a second class team.
