In an article titled “Falling Star,” Sports Illustrated writer Brian Cazeneuve gives ‘anecdotal evidence’ that the league has ‘figured out’ Capitals star Alex Ovechkin by being more physical.

Cazeneuve’s proof?

  • Ovechkin started a fight with Brandon Dubinsky in a loss to the Rangers Dec. 12.
  • He took a knee-to-knee hit from Matt Cooke against the Penguins recently.
  • Phoenix’s Derek Morris took a hooking penalty against him only 19 seconds into the game.

So there you have it, folks. It only took five seasons, two MVPs, and a couple of goal scoring titles until fellow NHLers figured out Ovie, which is to take penalties against him.

Check out the Sports Illustrated article for a laugh.
