Leading scorer Tomas Fleischmann and goaltender Jacob Markstrom are among six Florida Panthers who will play for their native countries in this years World Hockey Championship.
Left wing Fleischmann, who totaled 35 points in 48 games this season, will play for the Czech Republic and Markstrom for Sweden during the May 3-19 event in Stockholm, Sweden, and Helsinki, Finland.
Center Nick Bjugstad (USA), defenseman Brian Campbell (Canada), center Marcel Goc (Germany) and right wing Tomas Kopecky (Slovakia) also will play in the tournament.
Fleischmann, 28, has represented the Czech Republic on the international level on several occasions, including the 2010 Winter Olympics and 2008 World Championship.
Markstrom, 23, was 8-14-1 in 23 games with Florida this season. He went 3-0 with a 1.33 GA to help Sweden earn a Bronze medal at the 2010 World Championship.
