It sure didn't sound like anybody was eager to keep going down the same road when two veteran members of the Winnipeg Jets spoke to reporters after Saturday's disheartening 6-4 loss to the Dallas Stars. Both captain Andrew Ladd and right-winger Blake Wheeler, who had his second straight two-goal game, made it clear something's got to change. Ladd, asked if something drastic needs to happen after the Jets lost all three games at the MTS Centre last week -- gaining only one point from a shootout loss to Colorado on Thursday -- said this: "I don't know. It's not my decision to make. But obviously something needs to change." Wheeler didn't disagree and was more visibly frustrated. "What I say doesn't matter," Wheeler said. "It's what you do out on the ice. You can blow smoke as much as you want in the media. We've been blowing smoke for three years, everyone, myself, everyone that's stood in front of a microphone in the...

The Winnipeg Jets have recalled Eric O’Dell — their leading scorer with AHL St. John’s — the club announced on Tuesday. He scored 29 goals and 55 points in 59 games last year, and has 12 goals and 29 points through 28 games this season. Anaheim’s second-round pick...

Anthony Peluso suspended three games for boarding Alex Goligoski

Winnipeg Jets forward Anthony Peluso is the latest player to feel the heavy hand of the NHL's disciplinary system as he was suspended three games on Sunday. Peluso was assessed a major penalty for boarding Stars defenseman Alex Goligoski in Saturday's contest and was shown an early exit from the game. The hearing being announced was of little surprise given the poor hit...

The Winnipeg Jets will be without forward Matt Halischuk for the foreseeable future. The team announced Halischuk underwent surgery today for a fractured forearm he suffered against the Dallas Stars on Saturday night. He’ll be out indefinitely as he recovers. The Jets already took a hit to their lineup today when Anthony Peluso was suspended three games for boarding Dallas Stars...

Halischuk heads for Jets sick bay

Matt Halischuk is the latest member of the walking wounded for the Winnipeg Jets. Halischuk left Saturday's game with 1:54 left in the first period after blocking a shot in the right arm from Dallas Stars forward Alex Chaisson. The Jets said it was an upper-body injury and that he's more than day-to-day. "We have to get (him) checked out a little further," said...

“Something Needs To Change” In Winnipeg

After the Jets lost to Dallas today... from Tim Campbell of the Winnipeg Free Press, "What I say doesn’t matter," said Jets right-winger Blake Wheeler, who tied the game twice with goals 1:55 apart in the second period. "It’s what you do out on the ice. You can blow smoke as much as you want in the media. We’ve been blowing smoke for three years, everyone...

Visualizing Corsi and the Jets

I read a good post today at Arctic Hockey by Tim Bonnar, talking about what he perceives as being the problem with the Jets. Here’s his conclusion: On the ice, the reason that the Winnipeg Jets continue to pile up losses is because their bottom six forwards and bottom end D men are horrible. The [...]
