St. Louis Blues captain David Backes took some time Tuesday to make a rond-trip to Houston, Texas, and back to the St. Louis suburb St. Charles as a co-pilot of a small plane.
Backes, a flight student, went with his instructor and his wife to pick up three stray dogs in Houston to bring them back to a no-kill shelter in St. Charles. The Backes are advocates for animals.
The dogs, Emmitt, Lincoln, and Ernie arrived safely.
Fox St. Louis tagged along for the 700-mile, one-day trip. Click here for the full story.

Andy McDonald skated in a regular "yellow" jersey at practice yesterday, instead of a red no-contact jersey. Why does this fill me with dread?
Let me say from the start: Andy McDonald has been a very good hockey player. As a Blue, he's produced at nearly a point-per-game pace (189 points in 235 games, or 0.8 ppg--compare to the Blues current "best" offensive...

The Blues are 21-3-4 at home, leading the league in victories and points, and can build on that Friday night against the Los...
