Tampa Bay Lightning stud center Steven Stamkos was named the NHL's First Star of the Week on Monday. Stamkos joined Washington Capitals superstar Alex Ovechkin and Los Angeles Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick by being honored by the league. Stamkos collected six goals during the week and leads the NHL with 26 tallies this season. Ovechkin ran his point streak to six games by recording five goals and three assists this past week. He recorded consecutive two-goal efforts in wins over Buffalo and Columbus. Quick won all three of his starts this past week, including a 38-save shutout over the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday. He leads the league with five shutouts.
