COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- Vinny Prospal scored from a hard angle at 1:22 of the third and Sergei Bobrovsky had 24 saves to lead the Columbus Blue Jackets past the Dallas Stars 2-1 on Monday night, ending a four-game losing streak. It was the Blue Jackets' first victory since opening night in Nashville in a shootout. They had been outscored 16-6 since while mustering just a point in a shootout loss to Detroit in the home opener a week ago. Derek Dorsett also scored for the Blue Jackets. Philip Larsen had the Stars' goal with Kari Lehtonen stopping 25 shots. The Blue Jackets took the lead for good when Prospal collected the puck in the right corner and fired a shot along the goal line that appeared to catch Lehtonen by surprise, slipping into the net. Bobrovsky preserved the lead with a terrific stop on Michael Ryder's one-timer from the right hash midway through the period, just before Columbus' Adrian Aucoin hit a post with a slap shot. Jamie Benn saw his first ac...

Resilience, improvement showing with Jackets

Its cheap, as in no cost. Unless, of course, youre battling laryngitis as I am at the moment. Then it comes with a syllable surcharge. But I digress. I am referring to talk. In the early weeks of this abbreviated NHL season, one thing thats been an absolute constant from Columbus Blue Jackets players and coaches is the impressive chatter about the style this team needs to play to...

Ailing Columbus Blue Jackets Hope to Prevent Fifth Straight Loss Against Dallas

With a season opener win against Nashville on the road and a hard-fought shootout loss against Detroit last Monday, Columbus seemed poised to surprise many of their doubters this season. Since losing their home opener at Nationwide Arena, the Jackets have lost three more to boot – two lop-sided defeats to Phoenix and Colorado on the road, and a frustratingly close home loss against...

His game is so complete, he's been helping the Rangers win (see his five assists...

Bobrovsky to start vs Dallas Monday night

The Dallas Stars haven't been able to close out their last two opponents, but having Jamie Benn back could help if they're in that position again Monday night at Columbus. So could first-liners Jaromir Jagr and Derek Roy. Benn could make his season debut and Jagr and Roy might return from one-game injury absences as the Stars face a Blue Jackets team that's winless since...

Marian Gaborik: Still Important to the Rangers' Success

Through five games, Marian Gaborik—not Rick Nash—has been the most efficient offensive force on the Rangers, tallying five goals and three assists. Should that surprise you? Not at all, because all Gaborik has done with the Rangers, when healthy, is produce. Recall his 42-goal first season and 41-goal effort last year and you'll realize Gaborik has cemented himself with this...
