Found March 27, 2013 on Fox Sports Southwest:
Back in March 2011, the Dallas Stars signed a player few outside of the organization or those who don't closely follow the Western Hockey League (WHL) knew much about in a young defenseman named Brenden Dillon. The big, young blueliner had spent four seasons skating with the Seattle Thunderbirds of the WHL and Stars brass saw much to like in the 6-foot-2 defenseman for his size, physicality and all-around presence in the back. And Dillon's ascent in the Stars' organization has been a rapid one. He spent the tail end of the 2010-11 campaign with the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League and returned to Cedar Park for the bulk of last season before making his NHL debut late last year as the big club was out of playoff contention. He then returned to the AHL during the NHL lockout, but once the league and players reached an agreement, he was in camp with the Stars. And as local hockey fans know, the big, young defenseman hasn't looked back. He has been a true reve...

Bruins Fans Anxious to See Team Improve After Watching Pittsburgh Deal for Depth Before Trade Deadline (Video)

The rich got richer on Monday, as the Pittsburgh Penguins added some depth to their lineup in the form of Douglas Murray. In conjunction with the team’s deal for Brenden Morrow, the Pens are certainly looking like the team to beat in the Eastern Conference … on paper. The game is still played on the ice, of course, and that’s where Bruins fans are now hoping to see their team...

Stars send Smith, prospect from trade to AHL

DALLAS (AP) -- The Dallas Stars have sent forward Reilly Smith and newly acquired defenseman Joe Morrow to their AHL affiliate. The moves Tuesday came two days after the Stars sent longtime captain Brenden Morrow to Pittsburgh for Joe Morrow in a trade that also involved draft picks. The 21-year-old Smith has six points in 28 games with Dallas this season, including an assist in...

Report: Penguins Still Pursuing Jarome Iginla, Despite Recent Trades

One might think that having one of the best offenses in hockey and acquiring Brenden Morrow from the Stars might be enough for Pittsburgh Penguins general manager Ray Shero to be satisfied with his team’s forwards mix. Apparently, that’s not necessarily the case. According to ESPN.com, the Penguins are still among the teams interested in Flames forward Jarome Iginla. There...

Pittsburgh Penguins Building Their Own “Dream Team”

One Pennsylvania team put together a run of veteran free agents a few years ago and deemed themselves the dream team, but that never came to fruition. The Penguins look to be doing the same and hoping for better results; a Stanley Cup to be exact. The Penguins have traded for some big name veteran players over the past week. They’ve added 34 year old Forward Brenden Morrow, Defenseman...

Canadiens Have Room, And Need, For One More Re-Hab by   Jacques Decarie

What Will The Going Rate Be For A Good Player?

from Jason Botchford of the Vancouver Province, Vancouver GM Mike Gillis better wake up. If he’s going to get an aging player who was good a couple of years ago he’d better hurry before the Pittsburgh Penguins acquire them all. Pittsburgh GM Ray Shero had his fans applauding his moves to get Brenden Morrow and Douglas Murray, but NHL executives won’t have quite...

Peter Chiarelli Not Reacting to Penguins’ Moves, But Says Bruins Plan on Improving

The Stanley Cup isn’t won at the trade deadline, but if it was, the Pittsburgh Penguins would be having their names carved into the trophy right now. It isn’t, of course, but that doesn’t mean the Penguins haven’t done a lot to improve their chances of hoisting the Cup come June. Pittsburgh general manager Ray Shero remains one of the best in the game, and he proved that...

This Wasn’t Supposed To Happen But It Did

from Nicholas J, Cotsonika of Yahoo, The Pittsburgh Penguins are not supposed to be able to add Jarome Iginla, not when they had already added Brenden Morrow and Douglas Murray. Not when they already had last year’s Hart Trophy winner and this year’s presumptive MVP. Not when they already had a supporting cast that included other top scorers and character players and a Norris...

FOXSports.com NHL power rankings

For the last several weeks, the conversation -- as subjective as these talks are -- centered around the Chicago Blackhawks and Anaheim Ducks as to who was the true No. 1 team in the league. Theres a new team (at least for this season) to consider: the Pittsburgh Penguins. A 12-game winning streak, the longest in the NHL this season, isnt too bad of an argument. 1. Penguins 25-8...
