In a game where the Dallas Stars just got starting goaltender Kari Lehtonen back after missing 12 games due to a groin injury and a contest where the club's two most veteran defensemen Stephane Robidas and Sheldon Souray, continue to be sidelined, could Glen Gulutzan's club now be adding captain Brenden Morrow to the list of injured players? Quite possibly. The Dallas captain took a puck off his left knee late in the second period and tried to skate in the final 20 minutes but after logging just 21 seconds in his first shift of the final frame, he was officially done for the night. Of course, Morrow isn't all that far removed from missing six games recovering from an array of injuries, 10 games to be exact and this is the same knee, his left, that bothered him for much of training camp. But there isn't anything official from the team as of yet when it comes to how their captain is feeling. "I don't even know yet," Gulutzan said. "He took one of those shots off the knee." However, right after the Stars head coach finished addressing the media, Morrow was seen walking, albeit with a limp through the bowels of the American Airlines Center and he did address the several media members wondering about his condition. "I have no idea," Morrow said. "I've sprained them before. I can't remember if I've ever taken a slap shot but I've had it bruised. I'm sure the training staff has dealt with these before. They didn't give me any indication or time frame, work it up tomorrow morning when I get in and do my best to try and get this going." After dropping a 4-1 decision to the worst team in the NHL tonight, the Columbus Blue Jackets, the Stars are now 0-2-0 this week and now head into a New Year's Eve date with reigning Stanley Cup champion Boston, a game where it will be crucial for Dallas to have all hands on deck, especially since the Bruins currently have the second-most points in the league with 49, second only to 2010 champion Chicago. Should the man wearing the "C" for the Stars have any say, he'll be on the ice for the final game of 2011, which is just two days away. "I know it's a big game, so it's going to take something pretty serious to keep me out of it. With that being said, it's on my knee and it's given me problems this year," Morrow said. "The MCL's a big factor in skating and strides. Hopefully we'll do our best to try to maintain it and keep the swelling down so I can be ready." Morrow has 17 points (7-10-17) in 29 games this season.

The Dallas Stars have opened some eyes this season, sticking around as one of the best teams in the Western Conference. That was expected by some to change after No. 1 goaltender Kari Lehtonen went down recently. The goalie's lower-body injury caused Lehtonen to miss 12 games ultimately, but the Stars were able to stay afloat in his absence. Dallas actually went 7-5 without its...

The Dallas Stars are in deep trouble as the final game of 2011 calendar year looms on the horizon on New Year's Eve.
