Detroit Red Wings
Like their next opponent, the Dallas Stars have endured a lackluster start to this season. The Stars, though, were the better team in last week's visit to Detroit.
They'll try to earn another road victory over the Red Wings on Tuesday night and snap a three-game losing streak.
Dallas won two of its first three games and nearly shut out Detroit in a 2-1 win last Tuesday. Michael Ryder scored both goals as his team snapped a four-game skid in the series, and the Stars kept the Red Wings off the scoreboard until Damien Brunner tallied his first NHL goal with four seconds remaining.
Dallas is 0-2-1 since that victory and couldn't take advantage of its continued penalty-killing success on the road Monday against Columbus. The Stars (2-3-1) didn't allow a goal in the seven times they were short-handed but Philip Larsen had his team's only score in a 2-1 defeat.
"We got away from the game plan and we started turning pucks over," coach Glen Gulutzan said. &...
BEST OF MAXIM
from Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News,
Morrow is playing on the fourth line and has logged less than 10 minutes a game in each of the last two outings. He hasn’t seen that kind of role since he wore No. 45 while breaking in as a rookie back in 1999-2000. It’s not an easy decision for the Stars to make, and it’s not an easy reality for Morrow, who has played 812 games...

The Red Wings
Like Dallas, the Wings have been off to a shaky start. They’ve alternated between wins and losses so far this season (on track for a win tonight if the trend continues) though their play has looked better the past few games.
The Wings lost...
On the heels of a frustrating 2-1 overtime loss to Chicago, DetroitRedWings.com's Bill Roose announced that the Red Wings' players would in fact brave the half-to-three quarters of an inch's worth of ice coating the roads in Metro Detroit this morning to head down to Joe Louis Arena...
#RedWings are scheduled to skate at 12 EST today at JLA. Stay tuned for all...
Tuesday night Jordin Tootoo, one of the Wings’ newest players from the offseason engaged in two separate fights within the span of 20 minutes as Detroit went on to beat the Stars 4-1.
The first Tootoo fight came just three seconds into the opening period when he dropped the gloves with Eric Nystrom sending the JLA crowd into a frenzy.

Blue Jackets defenseman Jack Johnson had Stars goalie Keri Lehtonen beaten for a split second. Johnson’s wrister hit Lehtonen in the trapper, tipped up over the goalie’s shoulder was headed for the net when Lehtonen used his go-go gadget reflexes to reach behind himself for a backhanded snatch. It was part pitcher-fielding-a-comebacker part magician, but it’s definitely the...
Red Wings forward Jordin Tootoo dropped the gloves twice Tuesday night in a 4-1 win over the Dallas Stars from the Joe.
Tootoo’s first fight on the night came just three seconds into the game as he sparred with Eric Nystrom right off the opening face off.
Tootoo’s second fight came later in the period as he and Brenden Dillon went at it after bumping into each other at about...
The Detroit Red Wings will face off against the Dallas Stars tonight (7:30 PM EST, FSD Plus, Fox Sports Southwest Plus, AM 1270) hoping to rebound from a disappointing loss against Chicago while playing a team in somewhat similar circumstances.
The Stars have also undergone some roster revisions (see: Ray Whitney, Jaromir Jagr and Derek Roy), they've welcomed Jamie Benn back...
My memories of Tomas Holmstrom -- from "dog yard" to "Goldilocks."
Pavel Datsyuk stickhandled around a defender and sent a perfect pass across the front of the goal.
All Valtteri Filppula had to do was shoot into an open net, and he had no problem scoring his second goal of the game.
''Whenever he has the puck, you can always expect it's going to come your way,'' Filppula said. ''I've obviously played with him for...
Urgh. I was wondering why I was tossing and turning during my pre-game nap, but ahead of tonight's game between the Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Blackhawks (7 PM ET, FSD/CSN Chicago/WXYT AM), RedWingsFeed provides us with bad news from Fox Sports Detroit's Trevor Thompson...

DETROIT (AP) -- Valtteri Filppula scored two goals -- both off nifty passes from Pavel Datsyuk -- and the Detroit Red Wings beat the Dallas Stars 4-1 on Tuesday night.
Henrik Zetterberg scored on a two-man advantage in the final minute of the second period to give the Red Wings a 2-1 lead, and Damien Brunner and Filppula scored 23 seconds apart in the third.
The Red Wings rallied...
Because weather issues forced the Dallas Stars to fly into Detroit today, they didn't hold a morning skate. As such, the Dallas News's Mike Heika and DallasStars.com's Mark Stepneski offered their game-day updates within the last hour, and the Wings' website has just wrapped up their game-day coverage. Those stories and videos are located in the post dedicated to...
This year’s iteration of the Detroit Red Wings—at least thus far—can be described as decidedly average, but can improve on that mediocrity tonight at home against a struggling Dallas Stars team.
Once Western Conference Playoff enemies, the Stars and Wings are almost mirror-images of themselves this season. While Dallas has played one more game, both squads sport two wins...
