The Dallas Stars signed center Jamie Benn to a five-year, $26.5 million contract extension on Thursday. The deal was announced during the Stars' game against the Chicago Blackhawks. As a restricted free agent, Benn had been negotiating an agreement with Dallas since the end of the lockout three weeks ago. Benn boarded a plane to Dallas Thursday night and could be available for Monday's game at Columbus. The 23-year-old is entering his fourth season with the Stars and is coming off a career year, setting personal highs in goals (26), assists (37) and points (63). He was selected to his first NHL All-Star Game, where he won the accuracy shooting title during the Superskills Competition. “Jamie Benn has proven in his short, but very productive NHL career, that he is not only this franchise’s cornerstone player, but also an emerging superstar in the league,” said Stars General Manager Joe Nieuwendyk. “We believe that Jamie has the necessary tools to continue his growth ...

Kari Lehtonen was just a few seconds away from picking up his first shutout of the 2013 season, against the Detroit Red Wings no less. It wasn’t in the cards for the Dallas Stars goalie, though, as Damien Brunner scored with 3.4 seconds left to ruin the shutout.

After yesterday's revelation that they were using their empty seats as a humor device, the Dallas Stars have now turned in a direction I was not expecting. They are now inventing players for their press releases!
Even children's books are incredulous.
No, Tasha Pym, we have never seen a Sneep.
Shame on you, Dallas Stars. Shame. On. You.

Dallas Stars 2 – Chicago Blackhawks 3
Dallas was both unlucky and very fortunate to get at least a point in this game. Chicago dominated possession of the puck and put enormous pressure on Kari Lehtonen the entire game. The Stars couldn’t stay out of the penalty box and that, in the end, was the difference in the game as the Hawks scored three power play...
