Last week we speculated that the Canucks could and would re-sign Steve Pinizzotto. We've just learned they did just that this morning.

Via the Canucks twitter account.

And as we're on the conference call, #Canucks re-sign centre Andrew Ebbett and right wing Steve Pinizzotto.

— Vancouver Canucks (@VanCanucks) July 2, 2012

Pinizzotto suffered a shoulder injury in 2011/12 season and was declared out for the season in November.

Originally signed by the Canucks on March 7th, 2011 the rugged right winger will be relied upon for training camp depth but for him to make the big squad come beginning of the season is a longshot.

Pinizzotto, 27, spent the 2010 season with the Washington Capital’s AHL affiliate, the Hershey Bears.

He grabbed himself 42 points (17-25-42) and 178 penalty minutes in 68 games that year.

Time will tell what kind of impact he makes in 2012/13.

Stay Calm. It’s July 3rd, things will work out.

If there was such thing as a panic button in Vancouver it would be tromped on daily. People would be jumping, both knees touching their chin and landing both feet on to it alerting everyone that the Canucks are a mess and that it is in fact time to panic. This time last year the Canucks were a little over two weeks removed from losing the Stanley Cup. This year playoff hockey ended...

Canucks sign Jason Garrison, lose Salo.

The Vancouver Canucks have signed Whiterock, BC native Jason Garrison to a six year, $27.6 million dollar contract. The contract carries a cap hit of $4.6 million per season, a figure that according to some is a lot less than he could have gotten. It’s believed he took less to play closer to home. Entering the league as an undrafted 23 year old, Garrison has spent his entire four...

Roberto Luongo a no go?

This is a story that looks set to run and run, although it must be said that it’s run a fair way already. The tale is of the trade or the likely trade by the Vancouver Canucks of their goalie Roberto Luongo. He’s been chased by a few sides but so far nothing has been done and speculation has been rife as to where he will end up. The latest club to be linked with him is the Toronto...

Happy Canada Day…finally Has Vancouver‘s Mike Gillis made another smart signing, or is the contract too good to be true? Tampa Bay Inks Sami Salo

The Lightning added some offense to their blueline with the addition of Sami Salo, a two-year/$7.5 million deal. Salo is certainly at the tail end of his career but he can still help the Lightning and he should do well to help the powerplay. The Lightning once again overpay a Vancouver defenseman, you would’ve thought they learned their [...]

UFA of the Day: Second Chances? Tanner Glass

Second chances are a wonderful thing, aren’t they? One player who I would like to see in Vancouver providing Prust doesn’t sign with the Canucks is a good, solid character guy. He has a fine head of hair, he’s handsome and he has an awful first name. Tanner Glass. Name: Tanner Glass Age: 28 Size: 6’1″, 210 Lbs Why the Canucks might want him: Tanner Glass is a player that...

Jason Garrison, beyond the numbers

The Canucks signed Jason Garrison the other day to a whopping 6 year $27.6 million deal. The response in the hours and days afterwards have been all over the map. Some see this as a gross overpayment of a player that had one lucky season, others see it as a case of the Canucks getting a player for less money than he could have had elsewhere. So where does the truth lie? I have...
