Steven Stamkos had a 2011-12 season for the record books, leading the league with 60 goals in 82 games. Remarkably, he finished 10 goals ahead of the second-best scorer, Pittsburgh's Evgeni Malkin. How has Stamkos followed up his extremely impressive 60-goal effort? By scoring at a higher rate in 2013, of course.  Stamkos recently scored his 20th goal of the year in a game against the Florida Panthers. The goal came in his 26th game, making him the quickest player to reach 20 goals in 2013. Amazingly, Stamkos is off to a better start in 2013 than he was when he tallied 60 goals a year ago. It took the Tampa Bay Lightning forward 32 games to reach the 20-goal plateau in 2011-12.  Thanks to the lockout and a condensed season, we won't know if Stamkos could match or break his 60-goal mark from a year ago. Thankfully, Stamkos is still in the early stages of his career. Despite playing in his 5th NHL season, Stamkos is just 23 years old. One could argue that his best days are still ahead of him, as ridiculous as that thought might be.  (H/T NHL.com) [follow]
