South Carolina Stingrays Press Release
North Charleston, S.C. – The South Carolina Stingrays, celebrating 20 seasons of hockey in the Lowcountry and proud ECHL affiliate of the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League (NHL), named defenseman Kevin Quick team captain for the remainder of 2012-13 season on Monday Night Hockey, the weekly coach’s show, at Wild Wing Café in North Charleston.
Quick, 24, skated in 51 games with the Stingrays scoring one goal and 12 assists for 13 points. Last season, the Buffalo, New York, native helped the Florida Everblades (ECHL) capture their first Kelly Cup Championship last season appearing in 34 regular-season contests earning 10 assists and 16 postseason games netting a goal and three assists for four points. A third-round (78th overall) draft pick of the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2006, Quick appeared in 173 games over three seasons with their AHL affiliate, the Norfolk Admirals, registering 34 points (one goal, 33 assists). On January 13, 2009, he made his NHL debut with the Lightning and skated in six total contests earning one assist.
Forward Shawn Weller started the season as team captain before his ECHL rights were traded to the Stockton Thunder in exchange for defenseman Cam Brodie and future considerations on January 25.

Michael Stuart: Lightning Comeback Falls Short in the Shootout
For the second time this season, disappointment rained down from the rafters at the Tampa Bay Times Forum. In what can only be described as another less than inspiring performance, the Lightning completed the comeback but lost in a shootout at the hands of the Montreal Canadiens. Victor Hedman scored two goals late in the third period, Sami Salo tied the game, and Anders Lindback...
Lightning lose fifth straight after shootout with Montreal
Another sold out crowd at the Tampa Bay Times Forum was hoping to witness home dominance once again by the Lightning. However, they were outplayed the entire game by the Canadiens and their late rally did not carry into the shootout resulting in their fifth straight loss. Tampa Bay was called for five penalties in the first period and managed to give up just one goal. In the second...
Hockey Fight: Travis Moen (Montreal Canadiens) vs. BJ Crombeen (Tampa Bay Lightning)
Check out this hockey fight last night between Travis Moen of the Montreal Canadiens and BJ Crombeen of the Tampa Bay Lightning. Moen doesn't have much of a fighting history on the ice which resulted in him throwing body shots at Crombeen. I doubt the punches did too much damage considering they wear protection on the body. Maybe Moen needs to get in the gym and hit a punching...
Lightning go winless during road trip
The Lightning capped off their road trip with a 5-1 loss against the New York Rangers. Tampa Bay was virtually eliminated from competing against New York just :30 seconds into the game when Carl Hagelin redirected a shot in net to beat Mathieu Garon. Nearly 15 minutes later, Ryan Callahan put the Rangers up 2-0 in the first period with his wrist shot. After Hagelin scored his second...

Michael Stuart: Lightning Struggle Through Fourth Straight Loss
Winning in the National Hockey League is no easy feat; that being said, teams that fashion themselves as potential division champions should never lose four games in a row. With another loss earlier tonight against the New York Rangers, the Tampa Bay Lightning now find themselves sitting with a record of 6-5-0. After starting the season with so much promise, things have completely...

NHL Fights: Canadiens’ Travis Moen Tries To Body Punch Lightning’s BJ Crombeen
Canadiens’ left winger Travis Moen isn’t much of a fighter. He’s only had 100+ PIM once during his NHL career and only 14 PIM this season. So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that he was trying to use body shots last night during a brawl with Tampa Bay’s BJ Crombeen.
Crombeen, on the other hand, has a solid HockeyFights.com database.
For those of you who are 16 and have...
