Los Angeles Kings
St. Louis Blues
Jarret Stoll scored at 4:27 of overtime as the visiting Los Angeles Kings eliminated the top-seeded Vancouver Canucks from their Western Conference quarterfinal series with a 2-1 victory in Game 5. Brad Richardson tied the contest early in the third period and Jonathan Quick made 26 saves for the Kings, who won three road games in a playoff series for the first time in franchise history. The Kings will take on the Central Division-champion St. Louis Blues in the conference semifinals. Trevor Lewis forced Canucks defenseman Dan Hamhuis to cough up the puck just inside his own blue line. Stoll picked it up and rushed in on a 2-on-1 before beating Cory Schneider high to the stick side from the left faceoff circle, giving the Kings their first series win since 2001. Vancouver got on the board during a power play with just under six minutes remaining in the first period. Hamhuis kept the puck in the offensive zone at the left point and dished it to Daniel Sedin, who made a cross-slot pas...

I am proud of the Los Angeles Kings this team won in fine style! Upsetting the Presidents' Trophy winning Vancouver Canucks in five games as an eighth seed in the Western Conference, advancing to the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs for the first time in 11 seasons. Jarret Stoll is a popular guy in Los Angeles today.I think this is the perfect time to remind my...

(Eds: APNewsNow. With AP Photos.) By GREG BEACHAM AP Sports Wrier Jarret Stoll says he only had about 140 text messages waiting for him a few minutes after he scored the overtime goal that sent the Los Angeles Kings into the second round of the playoffs for the first time in 11 years.
If more of the Kings' long-suffering fans had his number, the veteran forward would be sifting...
Darryl Sutter has been through the rodeo enough times to pinpoint the areas in which the Los Angeles Kings' second round series against the St. Louis Blues will be decided.
"Goaltenders, special teams, top players, unsung heroes and discipline," Sutter listed. "Write it down and don't forget it."
"It's true. It's out of the hockey bible...
The process began in 2006, when the Kings hired Dean Lombardi as general manager and Lombardi began the process of overhauling the organization by building around a core of young players.
The job isn't done -- no team, short of the Stanley Cup champion, considers its season a full success -- but the Kings took a big step Sunday night when they beat the Vancouver Canucks 2-1...
This is going to be a whopper of a series.
Or not. History has shown, in 1969 and 1998, that the Blues can hold their own against the Los Angeles Kings in the playoffs. This past season, though, the Blues had some issues with L.A. during the regular season, mostly because Jonathan Quick is the stingiest damned goaltender in existence. The odds of there being some low-scoring games...
The only thing more surprising than the Los Angeles Kings making it to the 2nd Round is having enough energy to record a brand-new episode of All The Kings Men right after the Los Angeles Kings make it to the 2nd Round. So myself, Podcaster General Jesse Cohen, The Mayor John Hoven and Matt from Life In Hockeywood took some time out from buying our Jarret Stoll jerseys online...

In any sport, it is very rare for an eight seed to take down the team with the best record in the league. Usually the regular season shows that there are three to five teams with a realistic chance to win the championship, with the other teams just there so the elite teams can beat up on them and advance to the conference finals in due time. Usually the eighth seed makes the playoffs...
You call THAT a way to celebrate an enormous goal?
NOW THAT'S HOW YOU CELEBRATE A BIG GOAL BY JARRET STOLL!!!
The Los Angeles Kings are in the 2nd Round of the NHL Playoffs!!!
A team that so often wore their opponents down with smothering defensive play continued the franchise's tradition for dramatic endings.
With the amount of poise they've showed during their five consecutive playoff road wins, their current advancement is practically being sold by The Most Interesting Man In The World, pardon any advertisements.

One down, three to go.
Pending tonight's Canucks/Kings game, the Blues will either know their opponent for round two (the Los Angeles Kings) or not, but that's not seeming to matter too much to Blues fans. You know what? It shouldn't. The Blues made it to the second round of the playoffs last night for the first time since 2002. For reference, George W. Bush was still...
