Jim Cerny reported this from yesterday's practice...#NYR defense pairings today see Tim Erixon skating on extra pair with Jeff Woywitka, while Stralman is with Del Zotto, Staal with Bickel— Jim Cerny (@JimCerny) March 26, 2012 ...i like this decision. While Stralman has his deficiencies, Erixon is prone to defensive breakdowns which has led to Torts not completely trusting him. And despite picking up his first two NHL assists, the rookie defenseman hasn't proved to me he deserves to be in the line-up ahead of Stralman yet....and as far as I can remember the team played pretty well with Stralman in there all season. The magic number is 13

The Rangers and Penguins are seemingly locked in what will be an epic battle for first place in the Atlantic Division and Eastern Conference. The Rangers currently lead the Penguins by a single point, both with seven games remaining in the season. While many are panicking about how the Penguins could catch up so quickly (more on that in a second), the Rangers have two distinct advantages...

The Chemistry We've All Been Waiting For

It may have taken six months, but the Brad Richards/Marian Gaborik combination has finally become what we all hoped this past offseason.Richards looks like the playmaking center the Rangers thought they were getting when they signed him to a nine-year deal, while Gaborik has rediscovered the magic from two years ago.So why is it clicking now? I guess sometimes it just takes time...

Late Fedotenko goal gives Rangers 3-2 win at Wild

The New York Rangers had just about everything go right. Their primary Eastern Conference competitor actually lost a game, and their opponent on the ice gave them an easy path to the go-ahead goal. The Rangers, naturally, were more concerned about their own performance. Ruslan Fedotenko scored with 6:23 left to lead the Rangers past the Minnesota Wild 3-2 on Tuesday to create some...

Jan Levine: Game 76: NYR 3 MIN 2, Homecoming Sweet for Several Rangers, @WPG Tonight

Sometimes homecomings work out better than expected. Yesterday, that proved true for a pair of Rangers. Ryan McDonagh notched a pair of assists while playing his usually steady game and Marian Gaborik showed his stellar hands and goal-scoring ability in lighting the lamp to help the Rangers (48-21-7) to hard-fought 3-2 win over the Wild on Tuesday. The win took on even greater importance...

Recap: Rangers v. Wild

On a night where the lowly Islanders of all teams were able to stop the freight train that is the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Rangers gutted out a much needed win in Minnesota, 3-2 over the Wild, to extend their Eastern Conference lead to 3 points with 6 to play.  Brian Boyle had a big game for the Rangers, scoring a goal, winning key face-offs and playing a solid physical game. ...

Let us not forget

Tuesday when the New York Rangers take on the  Minnesota Wild, it will be the first time that the 2 teams that Derek Boogaard played for will have met on the ice since his passing last May 13th. I for one hope that the teams will find a way to honor the memory of Boogaard the person. If you love hockey then you can't forget the how and why that Derek Boogaard passed away...

King of The Hill

That is exactly what the New York Rangers are tonight after their 4-2 win over the Winnipeg Jets in Winnipeg. This was a gutsy performance by a team that never quits. Tonight, the Blueshirts came back from a 2-0 deficit on goals by defenseman Michael Del Zotto (1 goal and 1 assist) and team captain Ryan Callahan (1 goal and 1 assist). After that, it was the team’s scoring depth...

Rangers-Wild Preview

The New York Rangers have spent much of the season leading the Eastern Conference, but their grip on the top seed has become tenuous. Three more games against opponents outside playoff position may provide a vital chance to cushion their advantage. The Rangers look to maintain their first-place status when they face the Minnesota Wild for the only time this season Tuesday night...
