When center Nicklas Backstrom hits the ice tonight against the Montreal Canadiens he’ll be lining up against the player who forced him to miss the previous 40 games with an elbow to the chin. Canadiens forward Rene Bourque was suspended three games for the Jan. 3 hit that left Backstrom with a concussion, a hit Capitals coach Dale Hunter called “a total cheap shot from the blind side.” Tonight marks the first meeting between the two players since that night. “I don’t really care about that,” Backstrom said. “It happened. I’m not going to waste any energy on that.” continued
