Found March 05, 2013 on Running With The Devils:
Are you kidding me? The New Jersey Devils dropped their sixth (yes, sixth) consecutive contest on Tuesday evening at the hands of the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Bolts beat the Devils for just the third time in the Prudential Center by a score of 5-2. Adam Henrique and Patrik Elias netted goals for New Jersey. This is the Devils' first losing streak of six or more games since December, 2010. Jersey's Team allowed the opposition to score the first goal of the game for the seventh straight time. Nate Thompson tallied his fourth of the season 17:04 into the opening frame. Another defensive breakdown led to the early deficit; the Devils had a great forecheck going at the other end of the ice before Henrik Tallinder (still not sure why he's in the lineup) turned the puck over. The Lightning swooped down the ice and cashed in on the opportunity. Things did not get much better in the second period. Martin St Louis scored his sixth goal of the year on an odd-man rus...

Brodeur And His Back

from Rich Chere of the Star/Ledger, Devils goaltender Martin Brodeur has not suffered a setback with his ailing back. “No. Absolutely not. In fact, the opposite,” general manager Lou Lamoriello said today. “No setback. That I can assure you.”  So why is Brodeur, who is on injured reserve, no longer listed as day to day? “It’s his back. You know backs...

Preds claim former Hobey Baker finalist Bobby Butler off waivers…

Not exactly the “roster shake-up” we were talking about but it’s a start. On Monday morning, the Nashville Predators claimed winger Bobby Butler off of waivers from the New Jersey Devils. Undrafted, Butler inked a two-year deal with the Ottawa Senators shortly after his senior season at University of New Hampshire concluded. He was a Hobey Baker Award finalist as the best...

Lightning at Devils game preview

Game time: 7:30 p.m. ETTV: Sun Sports The strong starts of the New Jersey Devils and Tampa Bay Lightning seem long forgotten as both continue to fight through their current struggles. New Jersey, though, has been successful in most of its recent matchups with Tampa Bay, and it seeks an 18th victory in 21 games between the teams on Tuesday night. The Devils (10-7-5) began the season...

Lightning get the offense going in win over the Devils

The five game losing streak finally comes to an end for the Lightning as they defeated the New Jersey Devils Tuesday night. Predators claim forward Bobby Butler from Waivers

The Nashville Predators have claimed forward Bobby Butler off of the waiver wire. Butler was sent to the AHL by the New Jersey Devils.  The Predators aren't very deep offensively, even more so with the trade of Brian McGrattan. Butler will likely see the NHL roster for the time being. One could reasonably assume that he will get the same deal as Clune - a chance to stay...

Toronto Too Much to Handle, Devils Drop Fifth Straight

This is going to be a very brief recap. As a die-hard Devils fan, it is very hard for me to continue writing about such horrible displays of hockey. I am really not sure where to start on this one: bad goaltending, even worse defense, or so many missed opportunities? Wherever I begin, the New Jersey Devils had all three of those things tonight, and it was extremely evident. As if...

Sabres-Devils Preview

New Jersey coach Peter DeBoer is holding out hope that his team's worst stretch of the season is nearing an end. The Devils look to avoid losing seven straight for the first time in 27 years Thursday night when they host the Buffalo Sabres, the only team DeBoer's squad has earned a point against in the last six games. New Jersey (10-8-5) might have bottomed out by falling...

More Realignment Talk

from David Shoalts of the Globe and Mail, If the latest proposal for NHL realignment is shot down again by the players, the deal-breaker will be the playoff format. “That’s the big thing, the evenness in making the playoffs,” New Jersey Devils goaltender Johan Hedberg said Monday. Hedberg, though, doesn’t like the word deal-breaker, adding he expects there will be...

Devils 3, Sabres 2, SO

David Clarkson and Patrik Elias scored in a shootout and the New Jersey Devils rallied from a late two-goal deficit to defeat the Buffalo Sabres 3-2 on Thursday night, snapping a season-high six game winless streak.
