It is easy to imagine that the current first place team might hold onto their lead for a while.  They are the Pittsburgh Penguins.  They have a 14-10 record with four regulation tie points.  Their +18 goal differential places them second best in the league.  This record may not be a dominant one, but the impressive part of it is that most of the season so far has been played without their best player Sidney Crosby. Crosby has only played four games so far, but he has posted a ridiculous nine points and a +7 +/- rating.  Those are dominant numbers.  He is eclipsing his past scoring rates.  It is reasonable to suggest that Crosby won’t keep up that point per game rate over a full season but will likely still have the best point per game rate in the league. Sidney Crosby Trolls Still Not Impressed

Bloggers and the media learned a long time ago that a great way to get attention is to mention Sidney Crosby. This works because Crosby is a pretty polarizing figure: Either you love him or you hate him. If you say something that is pro-Crosby, you'll get a bunch of people jumping all over you for supporting him and if you say something negative about him you'll find...

Brian Murray on Foligno/Crosby

Good old Brian Murray, GM for the Sens, was talking to the media before the Sens-Canes game on Sunday night.  After fielding a bunch of questions, the session was coming to a close, but then Brian Murray asked something along the lines of, "No one wants to ask me about Sidney Crosby's comments?"  The fun begins at the 4:02 mark.   He goes out...

Even Sidney Crosby Can't Slow the Rangers

The Rangers really like the changes made to Madison Square Garden over the summer. They've won seven straight on home ice after beating the Penguins 4-3 on Tuesday night, and their 7-1-1 start is the best they've done through nine games since way back in 1992-93. So the fancy new digs appeal to them, although they haven't really changed their game much to suit the...

Sid the Kid did his Bid….niss

Let’s face facts:  In his first full week back, after missing an entire year, Sidney Crosby was the best player in the league.  His line for the week: 2G/6A/+7/8PIM/2PPP/15SOG.  That’s called game changer.  If you own him, your team BC (before Crosby) was an entire notch below where your team is at now.  Borderline playoff teams that own him are now in the playoffs. ...
