Found March 19, 2012 on Philly Sports Nut:

The Philadelphia Flyers have four home games coming up starting tomorrow night. The thrilling last-second victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins this weekend left the Flyers one point behind the Pens and three points behind the New York Rangers.

Both the Flyers and the Pens have gained a lot of ground on the Rangers in the last two weeks. The Flyers have gone 8-1-1 in their last ten while the Pens have gone 9-0-1.  The Pens have been lifted by the return of Sidney Crosby and the Flyers have been led by the strong goal-tending of Ilya Bryzgalov.

If the Flyers are able to take all eight points in these next four games, they could well find themselves not only atop the Atlantic Division but also sitting with the best record in the Eastern Conference.

This race will not be decided until the first week of April when the season ends and the Flyers have one home game with the Rangers and two road games with the Pens.

Nontheless eight points in the next four games would position the team well for that last week of the season. In order to pull this off, the Flyers offense will need to get off to a faster start than they have in the past two games. And of course, Bryzgalov will need to continue his magic. But it can happen.

Let’s Go Flyers !

Crosby makes immediate impact for surging Penguins

Dan Bylsma promised to keep Sidney Crosby's minutes under control as his star center eased his way back into the lineup following a three-month layoff. It might be time to take the shackles off. Crosby collected five assists during Pittsburgh's three-game road trip through New York, New Jersey and Philadelphia that saw the Penguins pull within a point of the Eastern Conference...

Flyers Lose To Panthers 2-1

Game notes: Tonight’s power play goal for Florida was the first PPG scored against Ilya Bryzgalov since February 25 at Calgary.  It was just the third PPG allowed by the Flyers in the last 13 games.  Claude Giroux played a team-high 24:10 tonight, including more than 10 minutes in the first period.  He was 17-for-20 (85 percent) on faceoffs.  The Flyers’ 62-percent faceoff...

Back in Bryzness + NHL94 Tourney!

A little over a month ago, if I would have told you that the Flyers would be heading into this past weekend’s brutal gauntlet of games riding a massive wave of emotional momentum caused by a record setting shutout streak by Ilya Bryzgalov, you probably would have laughed me into internet hibernation until my thirties. Furthermore, the idea of emerging from the weekend with 3 of...

Bill Meltzer: Meltzer's Musings: Comeback Kids

One thing about the 2011-12 Flyers: They never quit and never stop competing, even when they get outplayed by top opponents for long stretches of games. Now that the club is also getting top-notch goaltending from Ilya Bryzgalov, their ability to come back if they do trail in the game bodes very well for the rest of the stretch run and playoffs. If you look at the Flyers'...

Flyers Surging at Right Time With Huge Overtime Win Over Pittsburgh

Wow. What a huge win! We were all worried it would go to a shootout, and luckily it didn’t, but who cares! All that matters is the Flyers won. They beat the NHL’s hottest team, gaining 3 points in the standings in the process.I don’t know who I hate more,  the Penguins or the Rangers.Although he gave up 2 goals, Ilya Bryzgalov once again looked sharp, making several key saves...

Capitals-Flyers Preview

Earlier this month in the nation's capital, Washington's Alex Ovechkin repeatedly shot the puck at Philadelphia goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov, but his Russian compatriot stopped every one of them. The two-time league MVP was slumping at that time, but has regained his scoring touch. Bryzgalov, meanwhile, has been stellar between the pipes all month. Coming off his second two...

Fantasy Hockey ONE (3/21)

It seems like the question last night was more who did not score for Pittsburgh than who did. We are kidding of course.  However, despite the hat trick from James Neal, he was not our Fantasy POTN.  Now that does sound crazy of course and no Sidney Crosby was not either (despite four assists).  There was an even a hat trick from the enigmatic Ales Hemsky from...

John Toperzer: GAMEDAY! Third Atlantic Division Regulation Win in Four Days?

Pens (44-21-5, 20-13-3 road) at Flyers (41-22-8, 18-10-5 home), Wells Fargo Center, 12:30 pm EDT Follow me on Twitter @JohnToperzer - Are we happy with Tyler Kennedy? He played an active game Saturday but failed to score for the 21st time in 22 games and that’s basically what he gets paid to do. He certainly shoots enough. Linemate Sidney Crosby was unhappy that he...
