LONDON, ON - SEPTEMBER 17: James Reimer #34 of the Toronto Maple Leafs waits for a shot in a pre-season game against the Philadelphia Flyers on September 17, 2009 at the John Labatt Centre in London, Ontario. The Leafs defeated the Flyers 4-0. (Photo by Claus Andersen/Getty Images)

In a classic case of “Much Ado About Nothing,” Elisha Cuthbert, the gorgeous actress girlfriend of Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Dion Phaneuf, and April Reimer, the beautiful wife of Maple Leafs goaltender James Reimer, appeared to be setting the stage of a WAG-on-WAG cat fight for the ages when the two appeared to engage in an ultimate stare down during at the conclusion of Toronto’s 4-3 overtime loss to the Boston Bruins on Wednesday. Here’s how the stage was set for what developed into an all-out internet frenzy: Phaneuf made a gaffe in overtime of Game 4 of the teams’ Eastern Conference quarterfinals match-up, which ultimately led to David Krejci’s overtime winner. The cameras immediately locked in on the Maple Leafs’ family section, where Cuthbert and Reimer’s wife were seating near each other. That’s when the cameras captured the following exchange, where it appears that Reimer gives Cuthbert a look about her boyfriend’s error and Cuthbert responded in kind of an eye roll for the ages. But as is often the case, the truth of what exactly occurred is far less interesting. Reimer tweeted the following message indicating that all is well in Toronto Maple Leafs WAG-Land: For those who were thinkin @happyelishas and I were rolling our eyes @ eachother. Was the jerk beside us #rudecomment twitter.com/april_reimer/s… — April Reimer (@april_reimer) May 9, 2013 Yep, much ado about nothing. And for no other reason than me being such a nice guy, here’s some Elisha Cuthbert photos that have been a part of the Sportress Archives for years now: Click to view slideshow. Also, watch Elisha’s ABC show “Happy Endings.” It’s actually pretty darn good.
