Dominic Moore is a center for the New York Rangers. He started his career with the Rangers in 2003, who drafted him 95th overall in the 2000 draft. He split time between the Rangers and Hartford Wolf Pack for three years, before being traded to Pittsburgh. In the next 6 seasons, Moore would play for seven more teams. He stopped playing abruptly during the 2011-12 season to be with his wife Katie, who had fallen ill. The rest of his story can be seen here. (Caution: Sad story alert) In 2013, Dominic founded The Katie Moore Foundation in her memory and to help “energize medical science looking for paths to safety and healing, and to provide more direction, advocacy, and community for patients and families battling rare cancers.” An effort has been made on the Rangers subreddit to organize a group donation to the foundation. All information can be found in this post. There are three ways you can document your donation: Message user BetterCallStaal on reddit and your name will be added...

Dominic Moore leads Rangers to 3-2 series lead

The Rangers regained control of this series, with a big 4-2 win over the Flyers yesterday at MSG. Dominic Moore scored what turned out to be the game winning goal on a great individual effort in the second period, then assisted on Brian Boyle’s empty net goal to seal it in the third. Moore also […]

Dominic Moore a finalist for the Masterton

Dominic Moore, who was the Rangers nominee for the Masterton trophy at the end of March, was announced as a finalist for the award. The Masterton is awarded each year to the player “who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to ice hockey.” The nominees are selected by members of the PHWA. Moore […]

Rangers Persevere Through Disallowed Goal

With the Rangers up 1-0 in the second period, Martin St. Louis seemed to give the Rangers a 2-0 lead but a ridiculously quick whistle negated what would have been the 38-year old’s third goal of the series… …the problem I had wasn’t that the ref lost sight of the puck (that happens), it’s that he blew such a quick whistle. Mason didn’t have puck iced for even a fraction...

Miller Provides Just Enough To Rangers’ Offense

After an underwhelming Game Four in Philadelphia Rangers’ Head Coach Alain Vigneault gave J.T. Miller, whom he previously scrutinized, his first career playoff game. Miller made the most of it, playing on a line with Brad Richards and Carl Hagelin, and earned an assist in the Rangers’ 4-2 win. Via’s Adam Kimelman, Vigneault was indeed happy with Miller’s contribution...

Metro Division Semis Game 6: Rangers at Flyers

The Rangers are in Philly tonight to hopefully end this series in six games and win a date with the Pittsburgh Penguins in the next round. Philly won’t go down without a fight, and they have shown more desperation when trailing in this series. New York is going to need to buck this trend of […]

E:60′s “Coming Home”, the story of Dominic Moore

When I sat down to write last night, I was set on a post about Rick Nash. He’s the center of attention lately, and I was going to dive into his traditional and #fancystats to see the impact he was having on the team. But then this E:60 segment was brought to my attention. For […]

HOPE 16: Keep GM Job Far Away From Markus Naslund

If there was ever an appropriate time for a rant Vancouver, now is the time. Vancouver and hockey world I want you to listen to me, I have a lot of things I want to get off my chest. There were some rumblings out a month ago about Markus Naslund possibly joining the Canucks organization in an advisory role when his former agent Mike Gillis was the mayor of Candyland. Now that...

Rangers and Flyers worst series of round one

Holy crap! The New York Rangers and Philadelphia Flyers are in the playoffs! Yes it has been such a bland series that I felt the need to remind you the Rangers and Flyers are still playing. Out of all eight first rounds series this has to be the worst of them all. There has been relatively nothing controversial, strange, confusing or even remotely intriguing. It's just been...

Jim Carey and Spike Lee Get Cozy During Rangers Playoff Game

Two actors, Spike Lee and Jim Carrey, had a bromance at Madison Square Garden during the second period of Sunday’s Game 5 between the Philadelphia Flyers and New York Rangers. The Rangers ended up winning 4-2, so it looks like they were good luck. The post Jim Carey and Spike Lee Get Cozy During Rangers Playoff Game appeared first on Diehardsport.

Rangers one win from second round after taking Game 5 from Flyers

It was an artless and choppy contest, yet the result still put the Rangers on the brink of moving on in this postseason. On Sunday afternoon at the Garden, the Blueshirts plodded their way to a 4-2 win over the Flyers in Game 5, taking a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven, first-round series. As Game 6 looms back in Philadelphia on Tuesday night, so does the possibility the Rangers...

Less Shots Equal More Goals for the Rangers in the Postseason

Game after game during the regular season, we lamented the Rangers inability to bury their shots. It was especially agonizing when they turned an inexperienced or journeyman goaltender into the next coming of Patrick Roy. So how bad was it? The Rangers were second in the NHL during the regular season with 2,719 shots on goal (33 per game), however, they were just 16th in goals scored...
