So what happened?
If you had any doubt that Sidney Crosby was all the way back, those doubts were dispelled tonight. The Pens held a 3-2 lead with just under 30 seconds remaining in the game. Jordan Staal had left after taking a puck to the face, and Pascal Dupuis and Matt Cooke (two primary penalty killers) were in the box. Craig Adams was about to enter the box just 8 seconds later. The Pens were down by two men. HCDB looked down his bench and threw #87 out there on the ice in the middle of a physical, lay it on the line type of battle to end the game.
It was the most encouraging thing I've seen all year, and it worked. The Pens held the fort (thanks to a great team effort and some awesome saves by Brent Johnson) and earned two points.
The PK killed a two-man advantage for the final two minutes of the game. It was their best showing all season (which is saying something based on how successful they've been).
Generally, the Pens played pretty well in t...

WASHINGTON -- Sidney Crosby had gotten at least one point in each of his previous 11 regular-season visits to Verizon Center. Not this time. He had been involved in almost every one of the games in an 11-0-2 streak Washington had built against the Penguins, too. That streak's over, too.
John Carlson, please take a seat next to Evander Kane -- you've just been inducted into a very elite club. The club? None other than The Boston Chapter's Anti-Cooke Club, which Kane founded in 2010 after knocking out Matt Cooke just a month after the Pittsburgh pugilist tried his hardest to end Marc Savard's hockey career with a blindside elbow to the head. On Thursday...
The Boston Bruins visit the Pittsburgh Penguins on Monday night (preview) sitting three points out of the Eastern Conference lead with three games in-hand. They're 9-0-1 in their last 10 games; the Penguins are 5-1-1 since Sidney Crosby graced the NHL with his presence.
Patrice Bergeron of the Bruins is one of Crosby's friends and, as Michael Farber wrote for SI, a fellow...
Before I get into this, let me state that Jon is a big Pens fan, so I hope that writing this makes him hate me today. I also stole the preview from Pizz because I was challenged to drink my haterade. Consider it drank. Now, the Bruins are heading to Pittsburgh to face off against Sidney Crosby and the high-flying Pens. It's a shame that this game has to be on NESN because I was...
Washington Capitals defenseman John Carlson's shot to Penguins left wing Matt Cooke's head Thursday night will not draw a penalty from the NHL.
Pens beat Caps in regulation for first time since March of 2008

Washington Capitals defenseman John Carlson lit Matt Cooke up with a questionable hit in the late seconds of Pittsburghâs 2-1 win Thursday. You can view the hit here. There were only four seconds remaining in regulation and the puck was in the Washington end, but no penalty...
It's possible that the situation could have been more dire for the Penguins. It's just hard to imagine how. They were trying to protect a 3-2 lead over Carolina with a little more than three minutes left when their best defensive center, Jordan Staal, left the game after being struck in the face with a puck. That was bad.
WILMINGTON--The Bruins went through a brief, 30-minute stretch-of-the-legs this morning at Ristuccia Arena before heading off to Pittsburgh for tomorrow night's much anticipated matchup of one-versus-two in the Eastern Conference when they take on Sidney Crosby and the ultra-talented Penguins.
HAHA Crapitals. YOU GUYS SUCKS TEH BUTT! That game was actually pretty action packed. I didn’t hate watching it at all. Maybe the “Caps own the Pens in the regular season” crap will die down a bit now? Maybe? You were beaten by Craig Adams and Chris Kunitz! Suck on that Ovie! Who: Pittsburgh Penguins [...]
Who woulda thought the matchup would have been Brian Boucher vs. Brent Johnson? Who also would have thought it would have been such a low scoring affair? And last but not least who would have thought that Craig Adams, Arron Asham, and Pascal Dupuis would have been your three goal scorers? Not this guy, but [...]
