This game, to me, came down to 1 moment. It happened at 2:31 in the video above. I want to know how the hell Brad Richards saw Dan Girardi. Look at his head. He is facing the goalie, and Girardi is skating in from behind, out of his periphery (you would think). I seriously have no frikkin clue how the hell Richards saw Girardi. I’ve seen the replay like 20 times and I just can’t fathom how he could have seen him. It could have been an area pass, but a tape to tape area pass, that’s pretty damn rare. I just have no clue how anyone can see the game the way Richards did on that play. I guess that’s why he makes 60 million dollars on his current contract, and I blog for free. The score in this game wasn’t really a reflection on how the game was played. Both teams had some damn good chances. Marian Gaborik should have had like 3 or 4 points tonight but his line was held off the scoresheet. Good thing this team is built to be more than just a 1 line team. Brad Richards...

Girardi Not On All Star Ballot; Time For A Write-In Campaign

When the All Star ballots for this year were released, there were four Rangers on the ballot: Henrik Lundqvist, Marian Gaborik, Brad Richards, and Marc Staal. Lundqvist, Richards, and Gaborik were expected to be on the ballot, but Staal hasn’t played a single game this year. It is just another flaw in the All Star balloting, as the Rangers best defenseman thus far, Dan Girardi...

Let's Get Girardi in the All Star Game

Last year we were somehow able to get the most hated player in the NHL the 15th most votes for a forward with half of Rangers nation not supporting the Sean Avery All Star write-in campaign. This year, I thought I'd make it easier on ourselves by picking Dan Girardi as our target. When the NHL announced the All Star ballot this afternoon, somehow the heart and soul of the Rangers...

Girardi Not on All Star Ballot Because NHL is Ass-Backwards

After last night's game John Tortorella was asked about Dan Girardi not being on this year's All Star ballot and said this (via Rangers Rants)..."Oh, this league," said Tortorella, waving his hand in disgust. "It's because he's not pedigree. There's no pedigree there. Our league is so ass-backwards when it comes to that. It's not just this year...

Four Rangers Make NHL All-Star Ballot

It seems early for this, but the National Hockey League has released the voting ballot for the 2012 All-Star Game that will take place in Ottawa, Ontario in January. Representing the New York Rangers on the ballot are goaltender Henrik Lundqvist, defenseman Marc Staal and forwards Marian Gaborik and Brad Richards.  Right away you notice the absence of forward Ryan Callahan and...

League Neglecting Rangers' Success

Head coach John Tortorella let it all come out after Friday's 5-1 win over the Hurricanes when he was asked about defenseman Dan Girardi being left off the All-Star ballot and not being recognized as a top player in the National Hockey League. Below are his comments on the matter courtesy of Andrew Gross at Ranger Rants... "Oh, this league," said Tortorella, waving...

Rangers Showing Signs Of Improvement?

The Rangers seem to be doing more right than they are doing wrong these days and for the first time this season, the majority of fans are starting to see the bigger picture. From day one we’ve been preaching patience, defending Sather and Tortorella till we were blue in the face over roster decisions, line permutations, tactics, etc. Lucky for us, the team is progressing just as...

Avery's goal sparks Rangers win over 'Canes

Friday night at the Garden, Eric Staal's high-sticking penalty on Rangers defenseman Dan Girardi cut a third-period Carolina power play short, and the Blueshirts responded with three goals in three minutes on the way to a 5-1 victory over the Hurricanes.

Hurricanes-Rangers Preview

The combination of newcomer Brad Richards and Marian Gaborik didn't produce like New York Rangers coach John Tortorella had hoped, but now the team is getting plenty of contributions from its top line. The Rangers look to win six straight for the first time in two years Friday night when they host a slumping Carolina Hurricanes team trying to get its offense in gear. Signed...

Dan’s the man for Blueshirts

Even looking at tape, John Tortorella can find something new that impresses him about Dan Girardi. On Saturday after practice in Greenburgh, it wasn’t the defenseman’s game-winning goal in Friday night’s win that had caught Tortorella’s eye.

Rangers 5, Hurricanes 1

The New York Rangers (9-3-3) defeated the Carolina Hurricanes (5-8-3) by the score of 5-1, tonight. For a boxscore and recap go to Yahoo! Sports....most fun I've had watching this team in a long time. Everything is clicking right now. Heck they even scored a power play goal tonight....Avery proved tonight he can still be an effective player in this league if he uses his speed...
