Found January 06, 2013 on NY Rangers Blog:
Back in December I posted that if Chris Kreider's play didn't improve with the CT Whale the Rangers would keep him with their AHL affiliate until he did. Well Kreider's play hasn't improved (just five goals on the season), but Larry Brooks at the New York Post reports that the Rangers 2009 first round draft pick is not in the Whale line-up today and will be in training camp when it opens later this week. really didn't think the Rangers would actually start the season with their #1 prospect and playoff hero with the Whale, did you? Meanwhile, the Rangers other top prospect and World Juniors Gold medalist JT Miller won't be so lucky as Brooks adds that the plan as of now is for the 2011 first round pick to rejoin the Whale and be available for promotion if merited or needed. ...if the Rangers had a complete training camp, Miller would have been given a legit chance to earn a roster spot, but with the need to start the season asap the opportun...

Could Miller be the next new Ranger?

Could Miller swap US red white and blue for New York’s? When the Rangers hit the ice in the next couple of weeks, a player with plenty of momentum and a huge chance of making the Rangers opening night roster will be J.T. Miller. Physically mature and improving with every game he plays, Miller had an impressive World Junior’s, growing in importance with each game as the American...

A first look at the 2013-2014 $60 million Rangers

A $60 million cap will be tough to get to with Ryan McDonagh as an RFA. As mentioned yesterday, the NHL is very adamant about sticking to a $60 million cap for the 2013-2014 season. This has a lot of the larger market teams worried, as GMs built their clubs for at least a $70 million cap, not a $60 million cap. The Rangers have a total of 16 players (10 forwards, 4 defensemen, 2...

9 Questions As New York Rangers Training Camp Approaches

I don’t want to talk about it. You don’t want to read about it. There are plenty of places you can go for your lockout wrap-up information fix, but this article isn’t one of them. Was it stupid? Yes. Am I pissed off? Yes. But you know what? Like most hockey fans I’m moving on, [...]

Analyzing Potential Amnesty Buyouts For The New York Rangers

As the NHL and NHLPA finalize the new CBA it seems a virtual certainty that an amnesty buyout - the ability to buyout a player's contract with no cap penalty - will be part of it. In fact, it is likely that each team will have two at their disposal for the next two summers. So while teams are going to have to wait until the offseason to utilize their amnesty buyout(s), it'...

No Official Word on Gaborik's Status But Is Healthy

Jim Cerny at reports that there is no official word on Marian Gaborik's status to start the season after shoulder surgery this past summer. Back in December, Pat Leonard of the Daily News reported if training camp would convene in the beginning of January, Gaborik would be ready to go. Gaborik did some rehab work in Slovakia but has spent a significant amount...

#NYR Re: Del Zotto's contract situation, agent Don Meehan plans on talking with him today and then meeting w/ Rangers GM Glen Sather — Katie Strang (@KatieStrangESPN) January 7, 2013 ...i'd be shocked if this isn't done before the ink is dry on the new CBA which should be in a couple of days. far as the terms go, I'd love to see three years at...

Kreider Still With CT Whale

Steve Zipay at Newsday is reporting that Chris Kreider has not joined his Rangers teammates at informal practice yet and remains with the CT Whale. Zipay adds that he's not sure what the rules are regarding AHL players participating at informal practice with the CBA not yet ratified. This weekend, Larry Brooks at the New York Post reported that Kreider took a shot to the...

McIlrath Sticks Up for Bourque By Pounding Baby Flyer

Last night, the rest of the AHL was put on notice, don't take liberties with members of the CT Whale or you will be pounded by one Dylan McIlrath... ...and this is why, if healthy, McIlrath will be a huge asset for the Rangers. If anyone even so much as sneezes near a skill player they'll have to deal with "The Undertaker". Effin love this kid.

Tyler Seguin’s Superstar Potential, Rick Nash’s New Home Among Top 10 Things You May Have Forgotten During the Lockout (Photos)

The NHL is back, and fans can barely wait before teams officially drop the puck. With games reportedly scheduled for Jan. 19, the clock is ticking on the NHL season, with players, coaches and fans all playing catch-up to get back up to speed. After 113 days, the lockout is over, but there’s still work to be done before the games resume. When they do, however, there are plenty of...

2013 World Juniors: Red, White and Blue Collar

This wasn't the star-studded US line-up we've seen in some other tournaments. No Chris Kreider, no Kyle Palmieri, no Emerson Etem. If you wanna go further back, there weren't too many Zach Parises or Phil Kessels on the list either. Even names that could have carried the torch offensively, like Alex Galchenyuk, ultimately weren't solely responsible for the United...
