Oilers beat Avalanche 3-2
If nothing else, the Edmonton Oilers seem to want to keep you on your toes. Perhaps it’s a scheme devised to ensure you stay in the room and take in all of the commercials. Either way, while battling to maintain an early lead there were first NHL points, near goals and ultimately an Oilers win in this game.

Tonight’s goaltending performance by Semyon Varlamov reminded me a lot of Peter Budaj’s years with the Avalanche. In a game the team really needed to win, the goaltender – Budaj then, Varlamov tonight – couldn’t make a big save when it counted. As a result, the Avs came out of a game just like in so many with Budaj – “tough luck” losers...
