On a whim I requested a press pass for the Pittsburgh Penguins ceremony at the White House. To my pleasant surprise, my request was honored. So yesterday afternoon, I put on my new suit for the first time and trekked over to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue to take my place as a member of the press corps.
The first thing I learned is that when you’re “covering” an event involving the POTUS, you wait around. A lot.
There was waiting on the South Lawn while staffers debated whether or not to move the event inside. There was waiting in the East Room once the decision was made to go inside and all the poor photographers and cameramen had to re-set their equipment. There...
