Still shot of Dustin Brown's elbow that injured Jason Pominville #mnwild #lakings twitter.com/Russostrib/sta… — Michael Russo (@Russostrib) April 24, 2013 s/t to Michael Russo... In case anyone is confused, this was a text book hit to the head and a violation of rule 48. Jason Pominville's head is targeted by Dustin Brown. 48.1 Illegal Check to the Head – A hit resulting in contact with an opponent's head where the head is targeted and the principal point of contact is not permitted. However, in determining whether such a hit should have been permitted, the circumstances of the hit, including whether the opponent put himself in a vulnerable position immediately prior to or simultaneously with the hit or the head contact on an otherwise legal body check was avoidable, can be considered.

Report: Brown suspended for elbowing Wild's Pominville

ST. PAUL, Minn. Los Angeles Kings forward Dustin Brown was suspended two games for elbowing Minnesota Wild forward Jason Pominville in Tuesday's 2-1 Minnesota victory, according to a tweet from Los Angeles Times reporter Lisa Dillman. During the second period Sunday, Brown had the puck near the side boards and saw Pominville closing in. As Pominville approached, Brown turned...

Dustin Brown throws vicious elbow at Jason Pominville’s face

About midway through the second period, the Los Angeles Kings were down 2-0 when Dustin Brown threw a vicious elbow at Jason Pominville’s face.  The puck came to Brown on the half-wall, and rather than wait for Pominville to make contact with him, Brown lunged at Pominville and delivered an elbow right to his face.  A penalty wasn’t called on the play, but something tells me...

Amidst hubbub surrounding Wings’ playoff streak, Chris Ilitch drops hint regarding follow-on rink

Kings Brown suspended 2 games for hit on Jason Pominville

@bush1124 The NHL has no choice, they have to suspend him for this hit. — Eric J. Burton (@goon48) April 24, 2013 First off, I was right, the NHL had no choice, they had to suspend Dustin Brown for his hit on Jason Pominville. In my opinion, the hit was a text book violation of the NHL's Rule 48. Obviously, we can debate that if you want. Also, this suspension doesn&...

Have I Mentioned That the Kings Suck on the Road? by   Jack Weber

Darryl Sutter was forced to change the Kings lineup out of necessity today, as captain and left wing on the first line, Dustin Brown, was suspended for the remaining two games of the regular season following an elbow to the head of Jason Pominville yesterday. Pominville left the game and didn’t return with what is [...]

I am not a Dustin Brown hater by any stretch of the imagination, he's a good American players, but when you make a mistake you own up to and you move on. These comments that he made about his elbow on Jason Pominville are laughable, if not insulting. Helene Elliott and Lisa Dillman, Los Angeles Times – Obviously we were disappointed in the decision, quite honest,"...

Red Wings-Kings wrap-up and Wings-Predators set-up: one down, two to go

The theory goes something like this: as the Red Wings' 3-1 win over the Los Angeles Kings gives the 22-16-and-8 Wings both 52 points and 20 regulation-or-OT wins, if the Wings earn a win over the Nashville Predators tonight (7:30 PM, FSD/FS Tennessee/97.1 FM) and the Dallas Stars (48 points, 20 ROWs) defeat the Columbus Blue Jackets (51 points, 17 ROWs), the Wings will make the...

Dustin Brown at the center of two controversial hits

Dustin Brown's reputation in the NHL is starting to get pretty ugly. If you're unfamiliar with Brown as a player, he plays the game with an intensity and a ferocity that's difficult to match. This style appears to get the better of him, causing him to throw controversial hits on a somewhat regular basis. In a span of just three days, Brown placed himself at the center...

Kings overcome Stars, refs in OT victory

LOS ANGELES -- The Dallas Stars weren't the only thing the Los Angeles Kings were battling on Sunday night. Not only are the pesky Stars responsible for three of the Kings' 14 losses on the season, the Kings also had to overcome two tough calls by the officials as Los Angeles persevered in a 3-2 overtime victory at Staples Center. The victory, combined with San Joses loss...

Links of the Day 4/24/13

The day before the draft, therefore today we will be talking about the draft on this afternoon’s show. Yes! This afternoon, there is an episode of Rhino and Compass Radio. Be there or be square! (It’s at 3pm, CT) The Wild won yesterday, but Jason Pominville took a hell of a shot to the face. The Vikings’ new uniforms were leaked yesterday and… I like ‘em. “Let’s see...

Dustin Brown hit on Antoine Roussel

I found this little news tidbit on Michael Russo’s blog, obviously, we don’t see every hit or very news story, but it appears that Dustin Brown came very close to being suspended by the National Hockey Leagues Department of Player Safety earlier in the week for this questionable hit on Dallas Stars forward Antoine Roussel. via Russo’s Rants -- Brown, who amazingly has never...
