Tyler Seguin‘s big night didn’t have quite the party it could have, as the Bruins fell to the Sabres 7-4 on the Bruins forward’s 21st birthday.
Thomas Vanek was a big reason why, as the Bruins killer struck again. This time, he notched three goals during a five-point night that saw momentum swing after momentum swing finally wear down the B’s. Boston’s first loss at home this season (and first regulation loss) was one that fans might not soon forget, but the team will have to move on.
With another important divisional game looming, the B’s can’t linger on any bad blood. Then again, the next time these two teams meet should certainly be interesting.
NESN Nation’s Dan Duquette is honoring Vanek with out “Party Pooper” player of the game after this one. Who’s yours?

That piece of trash that almost took away Tyler Seguin‘s shootout goal on Tuesday night? It turns out it was a hot dog.
While many of those watching the end of the Bruins’ solid shootout win over the Devils knew that something got tossed onto the ice when Seguin made his run at the goal, it took the trained professionals to slow down the video enough to glimpse just exactly what...
Tyler Seguin scored two shootout goals in Boston's 2-1 victory over New Jersey. Unfortunately for Seguin, only one actually counted as the first was waved off after a fan tossed a piece of debris on the ice as he was shooting. While the trash didn't appear to interfere with the play, Seguin had to take his shot over again. He buried it - again - much to the delight of the...
A.B. As a dog lover I truly believe they are man’s best friend. Dogs are loyal and loving and are happy to see you every time you come home. That being said, dogs can also be bastards. Sometimes they rip apart your couch, sometimes they eat their own poop and sometimes they just won’t leave you alone. But Tyler Seguin’s brown lab has taken being a “bad dog’ to...
Tyler Seguin turned 21 on Thursday, and he celebrated by playing against the Buffalo Sabres.
He also celebrated with 200,000 or so of his closest friends on Twitter, with hundreds and hundreds of fans sending along well-wishes and the occasional marriage proposal.
NESN Nation’s Dan Duquette dove into the Bruins forward’s mentions to find some of the best. Check it out in the...
The Bruins hosted the Devils on Wednesday night in a game that went to a shootout. The Bruins ended up winning the game, with the best highlight being a hot dog being chucked on the ice as Tyler Seguin attempted his turn in the shootout. Clearly, the hot dog was enough of a distraction that Seguin didn’t score…. Oh wait, the game was in Boston so the flying wiener was meant for...
With the Bruins on the power play, Tyler Seguin was looking to add to Boston’s 1-0 lead against Toronto on Saturday. His slap shot from the right circle fooled Leafs goalie James Reimer, but the netminder was able to turn the shot away — in very unusual fashion.
The Amica Coverage Cam shows Seguin’s shot deflecting off the knob of Reimer’s stick and sailing over the net....
Two breakaways key scoring explosion.
Coming into tonight's Buffalo versus Boston game the primary focus was the potential physical play. Since the Sabres got bigger over the off season, with the additions of enforcer John Scott and agitator Steve Ott, many Sabres fans thought they would finally receive an answer for last season's Milan Lucic and Ryan Miller incident. However, Sabres sniper, Thomas Vanek grabbed...
Tuesday night didn’t end well. Ryan Miller allowed a pair of questionable goals and there were some struggles from various players on the roster. However, Tuesday’s overtime loss to the Leafs was followed by a 7-4 win over the Bruins.
Thomas Vanek continued his Hart-worthy play with a five-point effort that was complimented by his first hat trick since 2011. Buffalo’s defensive...
Any time the Bruins travel to Toronto, Peter Chiarelli must have a tiny smirk on his face.
In September of 2009 Chiarelli, sent forward Phil Kessel (and his six million dollar contract) to the Leafs for their first-round picks in 2010 and 2011, with a second-round pick tossed in for good measure.
The next year, Boston drafted former Plymouth Whalers forward Tyler Seguin with the...
Thomas Vanek of the Sabres had a nice move to beat Tuukka Rask of the Bruins to complete his hat trick.
Alex Ovechkin circled the wagons!
John Scott of the Sabres gave Shawn Thornton of the Boston Bruins a little bit of a beatdown.
Logan Couture turned a turnover into a goal and celebrated by “Kaepernicking”

Thursday’s action had a lot of action on it. Thomas Vanek of the Sabres had a hat trick and two assists as Buffalo posted a 7-4 win over Boston for the Bruins’ first regulation loss (5-1-1) of the season.
Brad Marchand scored twice for Boston in the loss. The Bruins put 42 shots on Buffalo goaltender Ryan Miller but he turned aside 38 of them for an ugly win. Shockingly, the...
Even a foreign object couldn't slow down the Boston Bruins, and it's been almost two years since the Buffalo Sabres have managed to do it at TD Garden.
The Bruins go for their longest season-opening home winning streak in over 22 years Thursday night when they try to continue their success against the Sabres.
Boston (5-0-1) has been one of the NHL's best teams this...
Grindin' Gears is a segment I started when Justin, Jon and Robb asked me to write for DOY. It was merely a weekly thing where I could rant and rave about the Bruins and whatever happened throughout those seven days. It was well received and has remained a staple throughout the three years I've been here. If you're new to the segment, it's an unedited, uncensored look...
