Even though New York Rangers’ netminder Henrik Lundqvist has been terrific to start the season, team head coach John Tortorella should consider giving backup goaltender Martin Biron a chance to play one of the three games coming up against the Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers, and the Winnipeg Jets. On Twitter, there were rumors circulating that Biron might be starting tonight but considering that the morning skate has yet to take place, we probably will not know who is starting until early this afternoon. With a healthy Biron, Tortorella needs to be willing to give him some playing time. The last thing the team needs is Lundqvist being overworked and tired heading into the Stanley Cup Playoffs come April. Biron is a solid netminder who had a very good shortened season with the Blueshirts and showed the team and its fans that he can be relied on in big games if need be. He also showed the organization what it is like to have two good netminders on the team, something the Rangers h...

Henrik Lundqvist Steals The Show, Rangers Get First Win

This game was a story about Henrik Lundqvist and penalties. As per usual, The King stood on his head and kept the Rangers in it. He had to because the Rangers couldn’t stay out of the box at all. Once the third period rolled around, the offense decided to actually help out their All World goalie, and gave him some offense to go with The King’s Michael Del Zotto had a pretty...

What’s Up With Henrik Lundqvist’s New Hat?

“(Brad Richards) gave it to me. Someone bought it in Europe, and it’s going to be our winning hat this year! We call it the Broadway Hat! Someone has to wear it after each win, and today was my turn. I am going to try and wear this hat every game. That’s going to be [...]

Lundqvist carries Rangers to first victory of season

VANCOUVER, British Columbia -- The dirty old chapeau atop Henrik Lundqvist's head was a crown fit for a King. Because on a night the Rangers were in desperate need of a victory after going the first three games and what seems like a million miles without one, it was...

Jan Levine: Game 4: NYR 4 Van 0, Hank Stands on Head, Offense Shows Up in Third

If someone went to bed before the game and just got the score on the radio with few details, they would think the Rangers dominated action in shutting out Vancouver. How wrong they would be. For two periods - and some might argue the third as well - if not for the sterling play of Henrik Lundqvist, this morning we would be looking at the standings and see 0-2-2 after the Rangers...

Always Consistent

Those two words describe New York Rangers’ goaltender Henrik Lundqvist’s play as a Blueshirt since joining the National Hockey League in the 2005-06 season. He showed that once again last night with a 40-save shutout performance of the Vancouver Canucks, helping lead the Rangers to their first victory of the season. It only made sense that he was the story of the game because...

Hightlight on Rick Rypien night was Kevin Bieksa fighting Brandon Dubinsky.

Rangers Finally Get Their First Win

It's too bad the Rangers don't get frequent flier miles for their team flights. If they did, there would be some pretty fantastic vacation plans in the future for members of the team. Thanks to their preseason tour in Europe, two opening games in Prague and a trip out to Vancouver for Tuesday night's game, they traveled 10,717 miles in the air in less than a month. Thanks...
