It was a week that had Flyers fans pumped up and ready to go. The boys had finally gotten back to .500, and were set to have a week full of rivalries, matching up against the Rangers, Penguins, and Bruins all in one week. Unfortunately, this week that Philly looked so forward to became a disaster, and quick. After a 4-2 loss to New York at MSG, the Flyers took a commanding 4-1 lead over the arch rival Pens, only to blow the lead and the game 5-4. And as if that wasnt heartbreaking enough, the Flyers were shutout today by Tuukka Rask and the Bruins 3-0. It's time to face the truth Philadelphia. This Flyers team is just not good enough. They have all the potential in the world, but their inconsistency has continuously failed them again and again. It's time to make a change. And for all you people out there saying "Fire Laviolette"...just stop. Stop it now. Yes, he is partly to blame for this bad 1st half of the season, but it is much too soon to go and fire a guy that a few weeks ago many considered to be the best coach in Philadelphia. It is without question time to make a change on this team, and there are two guys to definitely watch out for as far as the trade market is concerned. Those two men are Sean Couturier and Danny Briere. I've seen plenty of tweets the past few days about who needs to go and who needs to be brought in. And the person that I agree with the most is the twitter famous @fakelavy account. He has said over and over again how trading Couturier would be a bad move, and I completely agree with him. Couturier was an 8th overall pick and is coming off of what was a monster rookie year. He's had a very rough sophomore year, it's easy to see that. However, he is still young and needs time to develop. Briere, however, would make much more sense as far as trading away goes. I love Danny B, always have. However, he is the kind of guy that the Flyers would be able to give away and get something very solid in return. Although Briere has become Mr. Playoffs for the Flyers, he tends to not step it up until late in the regular season, and the way this year is going so far, this team is very much in danger of not even making the postseason. If I'm Paul Holmgren, I would keep Couturier away from the trade rumors, and throw Briere into the mix. And the guy that the Flyers should definitely try and pursue is none other than Calgary Flames defenseman Jay Bouwmeester. This is a guy who literally has not missed a single game since 2005. He is a very skilled skater who can also put up about 30 points a year as a defender. The Flyers are lacking on defense big time, and although Bryz has not been at his sharpest as of late, he still could be playing so much better with a tighter defense around him. Let's face it. Even Vezina would struggle with the defense that Bryz has around him right now.  This team is 11-14-1 and spiraling downward fast. Not to mention theyve played more games than anyone else in the Atlantic Divsion, and yet are sitting on the bottom (yes, even behind the Islanders. It's that bad). It's time for big changes to happen in Philly. There have been rumors surrounding players such as Jarome Iginla and Dustin Byfuglien, both of whom would be excellent additions to the orange and black. However, the player that I believe makes the most sense and would also be the easiest to get is Bouwmeester. Whatever move it is that Paul Holmgren makes, big changes are coming to Philly, and that is a fact. Hopefully Lavy and Couturier are staying put, but be sure to watch out for a veteran such as Briere to be on the move very shortly. If the Flyers want to make a push and contend for a playoff sport, then they are going to have to make a move as soon as possible. Especially with two games coming up this week against the team who currently ranks 2nd in the division in the arch rival New Jersey Devils.
