Found January 23, 2013 on Kukla's Korner:
After an 0-2 start to the 48-game season, this is something that the New York Rangers need to do beginning tonight with their tilt against the Boston Bruins at Madison Square Garden. The Blueshirts are coming off two games in which they did not play well defensively, took some bad penalties and did not get the offense they need from guys other than Brad Richards and Rick Nash. Put these three things together and it spells disaster for the New York Rangers. Tonight, they take on a 2-0 Bruins hockey club, with one of those wins coming against the Blueshirts this past Saturday night in Boston at the TD Garden. In the team's, the Rangers were badly outplayed and left their netminder, Henrik Lundqvist (31 saves on 34 shots), out to dry. With the roster that the Rangers have, there is no reason to believe that this will be a long losing streak. The team does have guys that can put the puck in the net, does have one of the best defensive corps in the league and also has one of th...

"This Is Sportscenter" commercial features Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist and The Muppets "Swedish Chef" (Video)

The fine folks over at ESPN have put together some classic commercials for their "This is Sportscenter" series and this one is an instant classic. The latest advertisement stars New York Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist and shows what happens when the ESPN cafeteria decides to hire the "Swedish Chef":

Why Torts Pulled Lundqvist

One of the stranger sights in the Rangers 6-3 loss to the Penguins was John Tortorella's early hook on Henrik Lundqvist. He explains his reasoning here (via NY Post)... “I was not going to keep him in there. It wasn’t him. I wasn’t going to keep him in there with what was going on in front of him.” ...i bet Biron felt good about himself after hearing this. In...

The Goals Breakdown: Bruins at Rangers

Bruins 0, Rangers 1: There’s nothing better than goals scored off of set plays (thanks Torts) and that’s exactly what this was. Michael Del Zotto started the breakout on a swing play deep in the Rangers end zone, while Brad Richards was on the Bruins blueline drawing 2 defenders towards him. With the Rangers F1 and F2 swinging, the Bruins forecheckers bit towards the boards opening...

Goal Breakdown: Rangers at Flyers

Source: NJ Star Ledger This game could have –and should have– been a blowout for the Flyers. But as usual, Henrik Lundqvist kept the Rangers in it and made it a game. Hank was the best Ranger on the ice n the first period, stopping a lot of quality chances for the Flyers. There was also nothing he could do on both of the Flyer goals in the second period. Flyers 1, Rangers 0 It’s...

Columbus Fans Welcome The Blue Jackets

from Micael Arace of the Columbus Dispatch, A year ago, the most ardent Blue Jackets supporters were organizing a protest to express the sentiment that they loved the team but did not care for its management. Another coach had been fired. The team was on its way to a last-place finish. Rick Nash, the disgruntled captain, was about to request a trade. Then there was the lockout...

Some thoughts on the new guys

Taylor Pyatt has displayed impressive hockey sense in his first two games A two game sample size is hardly enough to evaluate anyone, and clearly none of the Rangers played particularly well in the season’s opening weekend, but here are some initial impressions of the newest Blueshirts: Rick Nash – As coach John Tortorella said following Sunday’s game, “he’s the real deal...

OLYMPIAN TIM MOREHOUSE INTERVIEWS NHL STAR BRAD RICHARDS FOR E! NEWS

Olympic silver medalist in fencing, Tim Morehouse, has scored a gig with E! News to act as a special news correspondent. This is not the first time the entertainment show has handed the mic over to an Olympic athlete. Swimmer Ryan Lochte served as a fashion correspondent for the program during New York Fashion Week in September. Like Lochte, Morehouse is no stranger to the fashion...

Torts, Rangers Talk 4-3 Overtime Win vs. Bruins

Your browser does not support iframes. Via Blueshirts United: “That (No.1) line was just outstanding, and obviously Gaby had the three goals. It was a huge win for us.” - Henrik Lundqvist “When our top guys are our top guys I think it gets everyone else to elevate their game and motivate themselves to be better. With those guys leading the way, we come right...

New York Rangers Reinventing Themselves?

Rick Carpinello of Rangers Report (@rangersreport) brings up a fascinating point in his latest article reviewing the 0-2 start for the Blueshirts. Carp believes the team, now complete with Rick Nash but sans players like Brandon Prust, Brandon Dubinsky and Ruslan Fedotenko, will play a game with more speed and high-end skill, and less of the grind-it-out style the fans have come...

Shaking off the rust

Brian Boyle is one of the guys that needs to be better. (Scott Levy/NHLI/Getty Images) In case you missed it –and if you’ve been watching, you haven’t– the Rangers have been incredibly rusty in their opening two games against the Bruins and the Penguins. The defense has missed assignments, the offense hasn’t clicked, and it looks like only three players –Henrik Lundqvist...

RECAP: Turn off those fancy, new MSG lights. PENS WIN.

Have to find a middle ground on how to feel after this weekend. Pens start 2-0, while their division rivals the Flyers and Rangers both start 0-2. It is way too early to start jerking off about a quick start.   Normally starting off 2-0 means little. But in a 48-game season, it means something. What we as Pens fans feel right now is even better when seeing pictures...
