Tomas Plekanec and the Montreal Canadiens came to terms yesterday for $5 million a year average for 6 years for a total of $30 million. Plek also received a no trade clause. This ensures the hard nosed, fiesty Plek will be back with the Habs and they need him.  This was a no brainer, for this guy put up 70 points last season. which led the Canadiens, and the price is right even if the contract is a bit long. However, in today's world signing players long term has to be done if you want to keep them.The only problem I have with this is they need more.  They need to add to the offense and I am hoping they do so soon.  The Canadiens have a slew of young talent coming up who can score in the AHL, but that doesn't ensure they will in the NHL and that doesn't help now.  So, while this move I applaud loudly, it doesnt improve the team offensively and with the departure of Halak they need to add to the offense.  Lets hope Gauthier figures that out, but with him who knows?
