Found May 14, 2013 on The Pensblog:
For whatever reason, the Penguins and Senators have met an unrealistic amount of times in the playoffs. This year's series does mark the first time they haven't met in the first round. The matchups have delivered some great moments. First, some honorable mentions.   -- 2008, Gary Roberts scoring the first goal of the series then basically fighting the entire Senators team. -- And then there was Andy Sutton and his "Are You An Expert?" So odd. Our top five moments:   5.  2008 Quarterfinals Game 3 -- The Intro from hell Maybe the most embarrassing intro of all time. No one is even sure that the Senators have recovered from it.  Imagine how much the guy who played the Senator regrets this. He probably stayed up the night before hyping himself up. The Pens steamrolled the Sens in this series in a sweep. 4. 2008 Quarterfinals Game 2 -- Ryan Malone's GWG Our recap from back in the day: The Great Escape ...

Penguins fan with gross team spirit

I… I really don’t even know what to say about this.  How the hell does one even have that much body hair to do something like this?  And at what point did this seem like a good idea to walk around the concourse like this? Oh wait, it’s Pittsburgh?  Hell, this probably isn’t even the weirdest body hair arrangement at the game tonight.

Stanley Cup Playoffs round 2 schedule

The National Hockey League announced the dates, times and national broadcast information on Monday for the 2013 Stanley Cup Conference Semifinal round, which begins Tuesday, May 14. The top seeded Pittsburgh Penguins

Vokoun starting in goal for Penguins

The Pittsburgh Penguins are sticking with goaltender Tomas Vokoun for Game 1 of their second-round playoff series against Ottawa on Tuesday. The 36-year-old Vokoun replaced struggling starter Marc-Andre Fleury and won Games 5 and 6 of Pittsburgh's first-round playoff series with the New York Islanders last week. He stopped 66 of the 69 shots he faced against the Islanders as...

Pittsburgh Penguins fan shaves "Let's Go Pens" into chest hair (Picture)

Personally, I'm still trying to figure out if I'm impressed by the dedication of this Pittsburgh Penguins fan or if I should be totally grossed out. Check out this image courtesy of Pittsburgh Post-Gazette writer Seth Rorabaugh of one Penguins fan who shaved "Let's Go Pens" into his chest hair: This fan brought to you by Norelco: twitter.com/emptynetters...

Penguins Need to Showcase Cooke Against Senators

The Ottawa Senators will tell you that they are going to worry about playing playoff hockey and not Pittsburgh Penguins forward Matt Cooke. They will say all of the right things about being focused and not letting one person get to them. I’m not buying it. Prior to the last meeting between the Penguins and [...]

Penguins Fans shaves “Let’s Go Pens” into his chest

A Pittsburgh Penguins fan at the Penguins-Ottawa Senators game showed off some gross dedication by shaving “Let’s Go Pens” into his chest.  While it’s preferable that fans don’t do this, at least he did a good job with it. [@EmptyNetters]

Sidney Crosby is a Finalist for the Masterton

Another award nomination for Sid and for a member of the Penguins. From the NHL: Crosby, 25, missed most of the previous two seasons dealing with concussion issues, and then the first half of the 2012-13 season -- along with the rest of the League -- during the lockout. Questions were asked if Crosby ever could be the same player he was prior to his injuries. Instead, he returned...

The award is presented to ''the player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey.'' Crosby returned to form this year after missing extended...

Ray Shero is a Finalist for the General Manager of the Year Award

We totally forgot this was even an award. From the NHL: Shero made the seventh season of his tenure in Pittsburgh an active one. Unable to sign Jordan Staal, he traded the third-line center to the Carolina Hurricanes for his replacement, the solid Brandon Sutter, and also acquired backup goalie Tomas Vokoun. And then at the NHL Trade Deadline, he acquired forwards Jarome...

Senators-Penguins Preview

The celebration, at least by the typically all-business standards of the Pittsburgh Penguins, appeared a little over the top. The second Brooks Orpik's slapshot ripped into the back of the net 7:49 into overtime last Saturday to give the Penguins a 4-3 overtime win and a first-round playoff series victory over the better-than-advertised New York Islanders, Orpik's teammates...

A chance for Penguin Poop readers to help out a good cause.

I want to take a couple of minutes to step away from all of the playoff talk going on right now to talk about a way that our readership can help out a cause that is near and dear to my heart and benefit yourselves as well.  Many of you may not know it, but we have a wonderful little museum here in Pittsburgh called the Toonseum.  It is a museum dedicated to preserving comics and...

When Morning Shows Break Into Patriotic Song

((HT: CTV Ottawa Morning Live/Puck Daddy)) All the HQ can say is "Oh, Good Lord..." The morning show people in Ottawa decided to try and taunt the Pittsburgh Penguins through song... And a coach doppleganger... Be very afraid... Frankly, we're too stunned to say what we think...
