If you’re as bored of the Sidney Crosby/DMV talk as we are, you’re probably hoping for something a little different to help the dog days of summer pass a little more quickly. Over the next few weeks, we will be doing a slew of Top Five lists for your perusal. Since we’re all sick of talking about Crosby, let’s kick things off with the Top Five Pre-Sidney Crosby Playoff Goals.  NUMBER 5: Jaromir Jagr’s Dancing With the Devils  It was the first playoff goal for Jaromir Jagr and it was pretty impressive. Jagr gets hooked, interfered with, and somehow he slithers through all of that and comes out on the other end with the puck. Even a magician by todays’ standards like Pavel Datsyuk has to wonder how Jagr did that. NUMBER 4: Darius Kasparaitis OT Series-Clinching Goal It might not be the prettiest Penguins goal – or even in the top-20 prettiest goals for that matter – but this was a huge one. A game seven, overtime GWG/series-clinching goal? Yes please! For you newer fans, this is a lot like the Brooks Orpik goal against the New York Islanders – but with a lot more riding on it. Orpik was perhaps the least likely guy to get the GWG; so was Kasparaitis. NUMBER 3: Petr Nedved Stuns Washington In 4th OT. Penguins fans have always travelled well to the Nation’s Capital. Just listen to the reaction to Nedved’s GWG. If you’re a Capitals fan, how could you not be embarrassed? Absolutely deafening celebration by the Penguins contingent. Caps fans still feel the shame from that night. NUMBER 2: Jagr’s Got Dangles for Days Jagr completely owned Brandon Sutter’s dad. It’s hard to believe Jagr plays against the sons of the fathers he used to dominate. Oh, and yeah, “Mike Keenan has these guys well trained…” Trained for what exactly? I still have no clue. NUMBER 1: Mario Lemieux Cannot Be Stopped “Oh my heavens!” Anybody else get goosebumps watching that? Only Lemieux could make a Stanley Cup Finals team look like a bunch junior players. I don’t even think he was touched by the Minnesota defense. There’s a reason why this picture hangs in the hallway of the press box in CONSOL Energy Center, and it isn’t because Lemieux owns the team either. This is perhaps one of the most beautiful goals in Stanley Cup Finals history. The John Barbero goal call is the cherry on top. Have a Pens playoff goal that didn’t make the cut? Leave it in the comments section.

Update on the Sidney Crosby DMV Scandal by @ChicksDigHockey

We’ve got an update on the story that has captivated the hockey world since the Pittsburgh newspaper that rhymes with “Must Forget” first broke it. It seems as though PG reporter Amy Schaarsmith isn’t the pariah she first appeared to be. She’s just a sensationalist. The REAL hack behind the non-news that Sidney Crosby didn’t wait in a DMV line for his license renewal...

Pens CEO: That's not Sidney Crosby

An emphatic Pittsburgh Penguins CEO has come to the defense of Sidney Crosby after it was reported over the weekend the former MVP was given preferential treatment at a Pittsburgh-area DMV. Crosby for his part shrugged off the situation. "Anyone that knows Sid or follows hockey -- in Pittsburgh or anywhere -- knows that's not the person he is" David Morehouse told...

Malkin’s dad: ‘Dallas offered my son a bigger contract than Pittsburgh’

Vladimir Malkin, the father of Pittsburgh Penguins star Evgeni Malkin, says the Stars made his son an offer to play in Dallas. Vladimir told Russian media outlet SovSport that the Stars offered his son a larger contract than the Penguins, which would violate the NHL’s tampering laws. Evgeni signed an eight-year, $76 million

Whine Connoisseur: Penguins Star Sidney Crosby Cuts The Line At The DMV

Bruins fans saw first hand how much of a whiner and complainer Penguins star, Sidney Crosby was in the Eastern Conference Finals. He NEVER gave Boston any credit and NEVER took any blame. He is just a Whine Connoisseur, a person of informed and discriminating taste when it comes to being a baby. Can you say ENTITLEMENT? And it looks like he whined his way to the front of the line...

Penguins CEO Defends Sidney Crosby After Superstar Was Recently Able to Cut Line at Local DMV

There’s a good amount of the general public that would say the DMV is hell on earth. Visiting the local DMV is usually insufferable with a lot of painstaking waiting around all to just get a picture taken and have something updated. It’s the worst. If you’re one of the best hockey players on the planet and you got to renew your license at the DMV in the city in which you are...

Agent: Malkin ‘wishes always to remain in Pittsburgh’

Evgeni Malkin never entertained thoughts about playing for an NHL team other than the Penguins his agent said Tuesday. J.P. Barry told the Tribune-Review negotiations with the Penguins for Malkin's contract were “super smooth because both sides wanted to get something done quickly.” Malkin agreed to an eight-year $76 million (total) contract in June — within days of the...

Report: Stars offered Malkin more money than the Penguins

Vladimir Malkin - father of Pittsburgh Penguins star forward Evgeni Malkin - offered up some candid comments on his son's NHL tenure this week, including the suggestion that another team was interested in his services. In an interview with Russian sports website SovSport translated by Dmitry Chesnokov of Yahoo! Sports, the elder Malkin said that the Dallas Stars offered Evgeni...

Dallas Stars Deny Report of Tampering With Evgeni Malkin, Offering Him Bigger Contract Than Penguins

Evgeni Malkin has played his entire career with the Pittsburgh Penguins, and the forward has never experienced free agency, but that didn’t stop his father from claiming that his son received an offer from the Dallas Stars while still under contract with the Pens. In an interview with Russian media outlet Sovetsky Sport, Malkin’s father, Vladimir, said that the Stars offered...

Faith No More's Jim Martin in a Penguins Sweater in the 'Easy' Video

I gotta thanks Jason for the reminder on this one. Jim Martin is one of my favorite guitarists. As a Faith No More fan across all of their albums, from the Chuck Mosley-sung early works to the Mike Patton-led albums from the late 80s on, I still find Martin's contributions to be critical to the sound of the group. Despite only having a limited number of notable musical endeavors...
