Toronto Maple Leafs winger Joffrey Lupul will have an opportunity to be a part of what has made the NHL All-Star game very unique compared to other All-Star games in other sports. Lupul has been named assistant captain for the NHL All-Star game. This means that Lupul will be taking part in selecting the team during the player fantasy draft on January 26th. Lupul will assist the team what is led by Boston Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chara. New York Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist was also named an assistant captain for the All-Star game. Lundqvist will be assisting Ottawa Senators forward Daniel Alfredsson, who is the captain for the other All-Star team. This season Lupul is tied for fourth in the league in points with 51. Lupul is two points away from tying his career regular season high of 53 points, which was set back in the 2005/06 season.
