MONTREAL , QC - JUNE 26: Nazem Kadri poses for a portrait after being selected seventh overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs during the first round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft at the Bell Centre on June 26, 2009 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. (Photo by Jamie Squire/Getty Images)
Remember in my last article when I wrote that the Toronto Maple Leafs were probably have a huge challenge defeating the Tampa Bay Lightning.  Well, they kind of  proved me wrong.   They ended up having a solid performance as they beat Tampa 4-2, finally ending their five game losing skid. Nazem Kadri racked up three assists during the game.  ”He’s a catalysis in creating offense,” said Leaf’s head coach, Randy Carlyle after the game as he describes Kadri’s play making style. Leaf’s goalie, James Reimer also looked sharp in net, making 26 saves. There was some bad news for the Leafs after the Tampa game.  Joffery Lupul was suspended for two games for a head shot he gave Tampa Bay’s Victor Hedman. The very next night, the Leafs squandered a couple of two goal leads and lost 5-4 in a six round shoot out to the Buffalo Sabres.  Both net minders were shaky during the game. The Leafs faced another opponent this past week that would be a challenge for them.  The Boston Bruins.  The Leafs haven’t beaten the Bruins in almost two years. THIS KID IS HOT!: Nazem Kadri racked up nine points in just three games. The Leafs opened the scoring with a goal by Kadri.   In three games, Kadri has racked up nine points and six in just two games.  This kid is hot folks.  He has become my favorite player, next to captain, Dion Phaneuf.  Don’t be surprised if you see the “C” on Kadri’s jersey one day, whether it’s with Toronto or somewhere else. The game was a very exciting one.  Even when the Leafs were up 3-0,  there were a few good end to end rushes during the game. I have to admit, I thought Toronto was going to blow it when Boston scored with extra attacker with 1:16 to go in the the third period.   They managed to hang in there, though, and beat Boston 3-2. Reimer was, again, terrific in between the pipes, making 31 saves.  ”I thought our goal tender ( Reimer) made some big stops,” said Carlyle in the post game press conference. The Leafs will face Boston again tomorrow night in a rematch.
