PLAYERS: Raffi Torres
TEAMS: San Jose Sharks
San Jose forward Raffi Torres has already missed three months since he sustained an ACL injury during a preseason contest, but he won’t be able to rejoin the Sharks in the near future. “I’m just trying to stay around 60 percent,” Torres told CSN Bay Area. The 32-year-old has been skating in addition to his off-ice exercises, but he can’t push himself too hard without being sore for days afterwards. He’s one of the most controversial players in the league, but he excelled with San Jose after he was acquired during the shortened campaign. He had six points and 38 hits while only accumulating four penalty minutes in 11 contests with the Sharks last season.

With Hertl out, rookie Nieto gets big opportunity

The San Jose Sharks have a daunting task ahead of them tonight as they look to end the Anaheim Ducks winning streak at 10 games. In preparation for that, Sharks coach Todd McLellan has shaken up the team’s lines, according to CSN Bay Area. The trio of Joe Pavelski, Brent Burns, and Joe Thornton has been great so they’ll stick together. However, that line was formed by bumping...

Sharks Dominate Division Rivals

The San Jose Sharks beat Pacific Division rivals, the Anaheim Ducks, Sunday night on home ice. The Sharks were in command of the puck for the first two periods, giving them the 3-1 win and robbing the Ducks of the opportunity to extend their winning streak to 11 games. Ever since Joe Pavelski was moved onto the first line, along side Captain Joe Thornton and Brent Burns, the three...

Bracken Kearns, 32-Year-Old Rookie, Scores First NHL Goal After 500 Games in Minors (Video)

It has been a long, long road to glory for San Jose Sharks forward Bracken Kearns. The 32-year-old has played in exactly 500 games in the American Hockey League, but he entered Sunday night with zero NHL goals to his credit. That changed against the Anaheim Ducks, as Kearns slapped a rebound past goalie Frederik Andersen midway through the second period to light the lamp for the...

Sharks cool off streaking Ducks

The Sharks had just ended the NHL season's longest winning streak at 10 games with a well-deserved 3-1 victory over the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday. Afterward, though, even that was overshadowed by the individual accomplishments along the way. Logan Couture ended an 11-game goal drought with his first since Dec. 3 and 100th of his NHL career, but it was San Jose's next one...

Sharks win another shootout, 4-3 over Coyotes

The rust was there, just as everyone thought it might be after a three-day Christmas break. But the Sharks eventually found their legs Friday night and left the desert only 14 hours after they arrived with a third consecutive shootout victory, this one a 4-3 decision over the Phoenix Coyotes. And just as they had against the Colorado Avalanche on Monday night, Logan Couture and...

San Jose Stops Anaheim's Winning Streak

Let us pause now for a moment of silence as the Ducks winning streak has officially died at 10 games..... Ok, now what the heck happened? A team that looked invincible and able to come back from all sorts of odds just looked pedestrian and beatable in a 3-1 loss to San Jose.   The Sharks scouted Anaheim well and knew exactly how to counter them.  And they executed...

Sharks-Ducks Preview

The Anaheim Ducks entered the first game of a home-and-home set with the San Jose Sharks riding a 10-game winning streak and holding a seven-point lead in the Pacific Division. Ducks-Sharks Preview

A home-and-home set with the San Jose Sharks is about to provide the toughest test to the Anaheim Ducks' franchise-record winning streak. They needed some heroics to keep it going in their last time out. The Ducks go for an 11th straight win Sunday night when they try to snap a three-game losing streak to the surging Sharks. With 61 points, Anaheim (28-7-5) is tied with Chicago...
