John Tortorella spoke with Jim Cerny at Blueshirts United about the Rich Nash acquisition...

"We did some homework on Nash---(Brad Richards) knows him a little bit, I talked to other players in the league and to coaches that have coached him---and it is the right fit. And it is the right time of his career to be here. I think he has the hunger to get there and become that go-to guy in the playoffs."

Tortorella also discussed Nash's demeanor...

"The thing I like about Nash---and I haven't even met him face to face---in one conversation with him, he's all business. And everyone I have talked to about him says he's not a real high-maintenance guy, wants to play hard, wants to play every day and practice every day. I think we have him at a really good time in his career, and I think he's going to fit in with us tremendously."

...i am just too fired up for this team for there to be a lockout. Please God, don't let it happen!

...based on what I'm hearing from coaches and players I'd be shocked if Nash has a tough time acclimating himself into the Rangers locker room or with Tort's style of play.

Speaking Nash, Henrik Lundqvist had this message for him during a recent get together at the goaltender's apartment...

"You deserve this. You deserve to play on a big stage. You're a great player."

For the rest of Lundqvist's 1-on-1 with Cerny, keep reading after the jump.

...how can you not love Lundqvist's passion for the Rangers franchise and city of New York? It's infectious.

Here's more proof...

Great part about being a Ranger is the history. Every event you get surrounded by hockey legends left and right. #originalsix

Although, according to Justin Bourne at the Backhand Shelf that might not even be Lundqvist tweeting. (H/T to reader PD).

Along with his thoughts on Nash, John Tortorella also announced that his Foundation is teaming up with the Best Friends Animal Society for a dog walk event on September 9th in Riverside Park, located on the upper West Side of Manhattan.

All net proceeds from the event benefits the Westchester Humane Society and other organizations dedicated to promoting the humane treatment of animals.

And finally, no it can't be...Tortorella is on Twitter?!?!?!...

...looks like the account will be used for his foundation, so I doubt we'll be getting any inside information on lineup decisions. Although I'm not sure he'd be able to explain them.
