Lundqvist
Your browser does not support iframes. Via Blueshirts United: “That (No.1) line was just outstanding, and obviously Gaby had the three goals. It was a huge win for us.” - Henrik Lundqvist “When our top guys are our top guys I think it gets everyone else to elevate their game and motivate themselves to be better. With those guys leading the way, we come right in behind them.” - Dan Girardi “I'm just trying to feed off those guys. Richie slows the game down, and Nash draws so much attention and is so strong on the puck. I play off of that.” - Marian Gaborik ...while everyone deserves to be downright giddy about the "Welcome to the Jungle" line's game, the Rangers need to be sure they don't become a one line team (See Czech Mates). Which is why it was so encouraging to see the chemistry of the Callahan-Stepan-Pyatt line. Remember to follow me on Twitter & Facebook or e-mail me at nyrfan94@yahoo.com.

Some thoughts on the new guys

Taylor Pyatt has displayed impressive hockey sense in his first two games A two game sample size is hardly enough to evaluate anyone, and clearly none of the Rangers played particularly well in the season’s opening weekend, but here are some initial impressions of the newest Blueshirts: Rick Nash – As coach John Tortorella said following Sunday’s game, “he’s the real deal...

Around the Farm: WHL prospects in action last night

The two Rangers prospects playing in the WHL –Michael St. Croix (Edmonton Oil Kings) and Shane McColgan (Saskatoon Blades– were each in action last night, with both teams posting impressive wins. McColgan notched an assist in the Blades’ 4-1 victory over Brandon, and St. Croix notched a goal and an assist in the Oil Kings’ 7-0 spanking of Mosse Jaw. WHL Michael St. Croix...

Newbury returned to AHL

Kris Newbury was returned to Connecticut after last night’s 2-1 loss to the Flyers. In his one game cameo, Newbury played seven shifts for just five minutes of ice time. He also fought Tye McGinn and was charged an extra two minutes for roughing. This likely means that Chris Kreider will dress against the Leafs on Saturday. Tweet

Kreider, Asham, Gilroy Out; Newbury, Bickel, Eminger In

With Gilroy, Asham and Kreider scratched, Steve Eminger will play 2nd straight game on defense and Stu Bickel will play on fourth line again — Andrew Gross (@AGrossRecord) January 24, 2013 Jim Cerny at newyorkrangers.com adds that Kris Newbury will also be in the line-up. ...i know with a shortened season, it's hard to give Kreider too long of a leash to figure...

The current records of last year’s playoff teams

There’s been a lot of talk about how the Rangers are 1-3-0 to start the season. There’s a lot of panicking because the Rangers have generally looked flat and rusty, and that since this is a shorter season they can’t afford to be losing games like these this. Yes, every game means the same in the standings, but not all games are created equal. It’s like face offs, even if...

NY Rangers article faces web backlash

An article promoted by the New York Rangers entitled 'A Girl’s Guide to Watching the Rangers' was met with predictable backlash, so much so that they decided to take it down.

Video: Rangers Talk Loss to Flyers & Dreadful Power Play

John Tortorella on the power play (via Bergen Record)... “It’s just too deliberate and we’re simply not getting enough big plays from our top guys in that situation. That’s the frustrating part. You think you may be able to steal a point if we get something there.” ...that quote right there shows Torts has no idea what he's doing on the power play. They don...

Rangers 4, Bruins 3 (OT)

NEW YORK -- Marian Gaborik's third goal of the game, 27 seconds into overtime, sent hats flying onto the rink while giving the New York Rangers their first win of the season and the Boston Bruins their first defeat. Gaborik completed his hat trick and the Rangers' 4-3 win at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night by tapping in a deflection of his own miss on a breakaway...

Rangers publish their own "Girl's Guide to Watching Hockey", backlash ensues

Just when you thought the “While The Men Watch” controversy was over, it turns out it’s not. On their official fan blog entitled “Blueshirts United,” the New York Rangers published an article entitled “A Girl’s Guide to Watching the Rangers” (Note: Rangers have removed the posting). Its purpose was to help new female hockey fans learn about the team and sport...

Adam McQuaid pounds Brian Boyle

Boston Bruins defenseman Adam McQuaid and New York Rangers forward Brian Boyle are two big boys and this was a pretty good fight in my opinion. This is one thing that I like about the NHL, something happens on the ice and it's settled the players on the ice and not the officials. I score the fight a win by McQuaid. Unfortunately, the Boston Bruins are losing 2-0 after one period of hockey.

Gaborik’s Hat-Trick Lifts Rangers Over Bruins In OT

Rangers 4, Bruins 3 (OT) The Bruins headed into the Big Apple on Wednesday night for a nationally televised rematch of last Saturday’s season-opener against the Rangers, which the B’s won 3-1. Both teams had two games under their belt in this shortened season heading into Wednesday’s “Rivalry Night” – the Bruins undefeated after beating the Jets in a shootout on Monday...

Maple Leafs-Rangers Preview

The New York Rangers had Stanley Cup aspirations even before acquiring Rick Nash prior to the lockout. Despite their star power, they've yet to prove they're capable of living up to the lofty expectations. New York looks to get on track Saturday night by avoiding a third straight home loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs, who have earned both of their victories on the road....

Rangers Trade Kolarik to Penguins

The Penguins have announced that they have acquired forward Chad Kolarik from the New York Rangers in exchange for Benn Ferriero. Ferriero has 4g, 14a this year for the Penguins AHL affiliate Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. Ferriero has played 92 NHL games for the San Jose Sharks scoring 14g, 18a. He also scored the game-winning goal in overtime against the Detroit Red Wings...

Flyers Edge Rangers 2-1 For Their First Victory

Photo via flyers.nhl.com WELLS FARGO CENTER- The Flyers played the New York Rangers six times last season, and lost all six times. Not this season. The Flyers defeated the Rangers 2-1 in an exciting contest that they were in control of for most of the game, until late in the third period. After Taylor Pyatt scored his third goal of the season to make it a one goal game, the Rangers...

A Guide Or A Jab?

from the New York Post, The Rangers — who posted an article on their website yesterday many viewed as sexist — quickly yanked the story less than an hour later after a flood of negative comments. The posting, which appeared in slideshow form, was entitled “A Girl’s Guide to Watching the Rangers” and gave words of advice to female fans on how to watch a hockey game...
