Am I ever glad I joined SCF when I did. I came to the site looking to score some sweet Ryan Getzlaf cards, and the first trade I made did just that for me. It's my first trade with Bryan1121982, who posted some cards he was looking to move. Two jumped right out at me, and we quickly had a deal in place that netted me the below pair of awesomeness for just $16.First up, yet another Ryan Getzlaf Dominion hit. Numbered 21/25, this sweet two-color patch has awesome texture to it, stitching, and it is just dying to escape the relic area. I will pick up any Getzlaf patch from Dominion for eight bucks; that price is right up my alley for some high-end goodness. Pretty sure this comes from the sleeve of the jersey, although I'm generally pretty terrible at deciphering a patch's origin.Next up, Getzlaf's sometimes running mate, Bobby Ryan. Numbered 15/25 (I chuckled when I saw this, considering Getz dons number 15), we have another awesome two-color piece of patch, complete w...

Ducks lament slow start, prepare for future

Teemu Selanne insists the Anaheim Ducks really are the team that surged through the past 31/2 months with one of the NHL's best records, not the sad sacks who bumbled into an inescapable hole in the standings to start the season. While the Ducks packed up their lockers Monday after missing the playoffs for the second time in three years, the front office turned its attention...

An Artsy, and Limited, Ryan Getzlaf Panini Patch.

If someone had only seen my blog posts from the beginning of 2012 up until today, it would appear that Ryan Getzlaf was my number one PC. He is most certainly my favorite hockey player, and one of my four primary collections, but the insane number of his hits I've acquired in this final year of human existence is based off of their relative inexpensive nature more than anything...

Steve Palumbo: Ducks Prospect Emerson Etem Headed to AHL

The Anaheim Ducks have confirmed what we already knew, prospect Emerson Etem, who led the Western Hockey League with 61 goals this season, is ready to join the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League on an amateur tryout. Now that his current team, the Medicine Hat Tigers were swept by the Moose Jaw Warriors in the second round of the WHL playoffs, Etem is going to make the...

Steve Palumbo: Western Conference Quarterfinals Predictions + Ducks Lose Draft Lottery

Just a quick Anaheim Ducks note before my predictions. The NHL held the draft lottery last night and of course the Oilers won. They will draft first for the third consecutive season - hardly seems fair. Anyway, that means the Ducks stay put with the sixth pick. I suspect Anaheim will draft a player that fits an organizational need rather than the best player available. Just my thought....

Fun jabs at the expense of YOUR NHL team.

Anaheim Ducks – If Ryan Getzlaf got his head out of his ass and had played like a franchise player like he is supposed to be the Ducks wouldn’t have been cellar dwellers for most of the season. You sucked this year, completely sucked worse than suck can suck. Boston Bruins – Tim Thomas [...]

Brian Burke on "The Pittsburgh Model."

Brian Burke has joined the growing group of people who have decided to take shots at the Penguins in order to deflect attention from their own failures. Via Puck Daddy: "What's the Pittsburgh model?" Brian Burke snapped that question back to the media during a postseason press conference on Tuesday, examining the carcass of the 2011-12 Toronto Maple...
