Found January 07, 2012 on Rangers Review:
“It looked early on like we were a team that was saying, `Uh, oh, we’re tired, we’ve won a lot of games here lately, this may be just our bad night,’ ” John Tortorella has such an unbelievable feel for the game. His in game adjustments, his foresight, and his ability to get the most out of his players are just a few of the many, many reasons I love this coach. It’s no secret that I was very much against Tom Renney, the reasons being, the guy just had no sense for the game. The guy we have now, does. In spades. In a whole heaping bucket of spades. You guys heard the commentators gushing over Tort’s in game adjustments during the winter classic, and tonight you probably saw an even better example of the same. With the Rangers on their heels he called an early time out. It didn’t seem like he just tore into the team, it was more of a wakeup call than a screaming fit of rage. The team reacted well enough to earn themselves a win. Their 9th in their last 10, their NHL leading...

Tortorella pre-game

Here’s John Tortorella’s pre-game presser. He wouldn’t talk about the fine. He spoke a bit about the team no longer being able to sneak up on anybody. He wasn’t asked if he met with NBC to discuss the outcome of tonight’s game (just kidding! settle down!) Here is is:

Credit To the All Star Coach

First of all, the news of John Tortorella coaching at the All Star game this season speaks volumes to what the Rangers coach has achieved this season. Several Rangers players have received media kudos and attention for the way they have worked their way to the top of the Eastern Conference this year and rightly so. However one person who has not received enough praise is the man...

NY Rangers: Timeline For Cup Run Accelerated

If there was one certainty heading into the 2011-2012 season, it was that this Rangers’ team coached by John Tortorella was going to work hard. It has been their blueprint for several seasons now, and it was this lunch pail approach, manifested in their choice of Ryan Callahan as Captain, that brought the club to the point where they were capable of competing with any opponent...

Rangers coach Tortorella gets ‘Star’ role

PITTSBURGH — John Tortorella will be behind the bench of one All-Star team to be named later when the NHL All-Star Game is played in Ottawa on Jan. 29. The Rangers coach, who earned the designation by virtue of his team’s position in the Eastern Conference, will be joined by...

Video: Rangers Hope to Avoid Let Down vs. Panthers

...probably going to be strange for these guys not to have an HBO camera in their face all the time or answer questions about the Winter Classic. This obviously has all the makings of a letdown game after such an emotional high. But one thing that could spark this team is the likely fireworks that will ensue based on the last meeting between the two teams.  To view video of...

Penalty Shot Best Part of HBO 24/7 Final Episode

We all lost our minds when it was called and praised John Tortorella for criticizing it, but if not for the unforgiveable penalty shot call for Ryan McDonagh supposedly closing his hand on the puck we never would have had the most unforgettable scene in the final episode of HBO's 24/7 (via Puck Daddy)... From the numerous angles (the blimp cam was especially awesome...

Post-game interviews

John Tortorella (I believe the first question is about Gaborik’s line; he had some interesting things to say about the rest of this season; and also late in the interview, about Ruslan Fedotenko having Wojtek Wolski looking over his shoulder): Brad Richards: Marian Gaborik: Martin Biron: Marc Staal:

One Night, Two Great Rangers Endings

Timing can be an amazing thing sometimes. If the Rangers got off to a strong start this season and found themselves with the most points in the NHL after 38 games, people would be ecstatic and buzzing about just how far the team could go this season. But the fact that they are doing it in a year that featured the spotlight of the Winter Classic and the HBO show surrounding it...

Torts bites tongue on 30G fine

Wojtek Wolski understands he has to “wait his turn,” as John Tortorella said on Wednesday, and he knows what he must do once he goes back into the Rangers’ lineup.
