The Nashville Predators hope they have found an offensive gem in Niclas Bergfors, signed during the off-season.
Bergfors first made the New Jersey Devils roster to start the 2009-10 season and played 54 games before being traded in the Ilya Kovalchuk deal that saw Bergfors and Johnny Oduya sent to Atlanta for the superstar as well as Anssi Salmela and the Thrashers second round pick in the 2010 Entry Draft (from the U.S. Under-18 team, Jon Merrill).
During his rookie campaign, Bergfors finished with 21 goals and 44 points in 81 games.
Production slipped last season, his sophomore year in the League, and the Swede only tallied 11 goals and added 18 assists for 29 points in 52 games with the Thrashers before being traded to Florida just before the deadline. At the end of the season, Bergfors was left unqualified by the Panthers organization making the restricted free agent unrestricted and free to sign with the team of his choosing.
