When the Los Angeles Kings last faced the Detroit Red Wings... the Kings were 8th in the NHL while the Red Wings were struggling mightily. Boy, things have really changed in less than 1 month, huh? But the biggest change has been the arrival of Kings defenseman and Team USA Posterboy, Jack Johnson, to the world of Official NHL Player Twitter.

Jack Johnson has the reputation of being overrated as an NHL defenseman. He's been called out by his GM for his lackluster play. And some times it seems like he's just drifting out on the ice, listening to the music in his head. And wouldn't you know it... Jack Johnson tweets exactly like you thought he would.

Any Follow Friday that includes Gary Sinise, a medical company, the Kings mascot and David Perron
is SO Jack Johnson in my book.

Awww... Jack Johnson can be so caring and sweet in his Tweets...

... and so awesome in others.
Yes, you are right, Jack, that did not look "fun."

But Jack Johnson isn't just using twitter to reminisce about his past or tell Ryan Miller that he's a wuss. No, he's using it to connect directly with his fans... and offer them prizes for amazingly easy trivia questions.

Hmm, where did Jack Johnson go to college?

As a single man living in Hollywood, Jack Johnson is also using Twitter for what it was designed for... hitting on hot celebrities.

Man, do you think Jack has a shot with Alyssa?
I'm not sure if she goes for hockey players.

And of course, Jack Johnson uses Twitter to talk about the serious issues facing our society today.

At least we know where Jack Johnson wants to retire.
Participating in Battle of the Blades.

With the emotional week that the Los Angeles Kings had... I'm sure minutes after Terry Murray was fired, Jack Johnson was ready to use Twitter to express his deepest gratitude and best wishes to his former coach.

Look it up. This was tweeted 2 hours after Coach Murray was fired.

Finally, since Jack Johnson is a successful pro athlete on Twitter... it's always great to see what other amazing, talented fellow pro athletes he admires.

It makes complete sense that Jack Johnson is a HUGE Tim Tebow fan...
because neither one of them can complete a pass in the offensive zone

Kings vs Red Wings Recap

Big night for Emmerton and Miller. Big night for the Red Wings.Read more for the rest of the recap: Our third and fourth lines were outstanding tonight. Great hustle by those guys and they were finishing on their chances. As much as I loved having Pav and Hank on the same line, the combination of Datsyuk/Franzen and Zetterberg/Filppula has been great. Bert is also contributing...

Red Wings-Kings game-day updates: About the Kings, Valtteri Filppula’s emergence and physicality

As the Detroit Red Wings prepare to face off against the Los Angeles Kings tonight (7 PM EST, FSD/FS West/WXYT), MLive’s Ansar Khan reports that the Wings have also chosen to conserve their players’ energy given that the team has to play four games (endure four tie zone changes) over the course of the next six nights: Optional skate for Wings today. Same lineup expected: 93...

Red Wings-Predators wrap-up and overnight report: a paradoxical loss, right next to itself

The Detroit Red Wings’ 4-3 loss to the Nashville Predators on Thursday night offers something of a sports paradox: while the Red Wings played smart hockey, controling the puck and the pace of play for extended periods of time, and while the Wings spent most of the night in the Predators’ zone, firing 40 shots at Pekka Rinne, they didn’t play efficient hockey. A team embarking...

Red Wings-Kings set-up and overnight report: the kind of game that sneaks up on you

The Detroit Red Wings will face off against a Los Angeles Kings team tonight (7 PM EST, FSD/FS West/WXYT) which may pose a harsher challenge than their press coverage of late indicates. As the Wings—who will just happen to welcome the 25 millionth fan to the Joe this evening—hope to rebound from a 4-3 loss to Nashville before heading on the road for an ugly three-games-in-four...

Kings-Red Wings Preview

With their opponent in a dreadful offensive slump, the high-powered Detroit Red Wings would appear to have a prime chance to extend one of the longest home win streaks in team history. The Los Angeles Kings, though, have been successful recently at Joe Louis Arena. The league's lowest-scoring team faces arguably the NHL's hottest offense as the Kings try to win their fourth...

Detroit 8, L.A. 2: Wings roll up 10th straight home win

Superman has his Fortress of Solitude. The Red Wings have Joe Louis Arena. The Wings again demonstrated their invincibility at home Saturday night when they routed the reeling Los Angeles Kings, 8-2, and notched their 10th straight victory at the Joe, where they are 13-2-1.

For Wings, puck movement key to power-play success

After a slow start, the Red Wings' power play has come around. The recent success is due in no small part to puck movement.

Los Angeles Kings (14-13-4) at Detroit Red Wings (19-10-1), 7 p.m. (ET)

The Kings weren't able to break out of their scoring slump on Thursday, but they still managed to snap a five-game skid. They might not get as lucky tonight against the high-powered Red Wings.
